Hey Everyone. I Wanted to talk about comics today. So as most of yall may know by now Marvel and DC having been battling it each other on both the movie and video game market for quite some time now. While Marvel has big name superheros like Spider-man, Iron-man, X-men, and Capitan America. DC has big named heros too with Superman, Batman, Green lantern, and my personal favorite The Flash. Both also even have there own big team of superheros.                  Marvel = The Avengers.  DC = The Justic League

So what i wanted to know from yall is which one do yall prefer more Marvel or DC. And which one do yall think is winning in the Movie/Video game market starting from the year 2000.

Also would yall like to see a game with the two Battling it out?? Let me know.  :)

(I Personally Prefer DC since all of my Top 3 heros are on that brand)

I prefer marvel by a mile they just seem a bit more interesting to me. Also a game with them fighting done right could be great.

they have both been pissing me off, movies go to Marvel, because they have more n the only ?DC 1s to not suck is batman's.
TV goes to Marvel, again they have more, but the DC 1s are great.
forget the movies, i forgot about DC's animated films they r great, tie.
the comics both suck, DC is revamping cause their out of crisis n Marvel killed off Bucky n put back in Steve 4 some reason (it was the movie) Steve barely had Nick's job for a year and that was a perfect fit for him, more than Iron Man, way to move forward Marvel.

I was always a Marvel guy when younger. I could never relate to DC characters as they were always portrayed as god-like super-beings that are both above the law and morally superior to lowly humans. I always had Frank Miller's opinion of Superman: he's basically this "goody two shoes, I'm better than everyone" character and I could never relate to him. to me he was a villian waiting to happen. Marvel characters have flaws and always seem to be more life-like. plus Deadpool is in Marvel :P

I see your point about the DC heros being portayed as "God-like" super-heros. Which kinda make sense since almost all of them usually work alone.

However the main reason why i personally prefer DC though is because there hero's background storys and super talents seem to be more realistic and more believable when compared to Marvel heros.

I know there just Heros but i like knowing that some of them could be possible and reality.  :)

I forgot to mention that Batman breaks this rule for me Batman > everything else, except Deadpool :P

Edit: I will say that I have been slowly getting more into DC stuff, as all the great writers and artists that marvel used to have "jumped ship" to DC. people like Grant Morrison, Gail Simone and even Jim Lee make me read stuff that i wouldn't have normally read at all. Hell, I was buying Birds of Prey for a while because Gail Simone was doing it. I forgot to add up there that I am also a HUGE fan of Vertigo comics, probably more than Marvel and I guess you could count that as DC. Fables, Sandman, and Hellblazer as well as Alan Moore titles are my faves.

The actual comics: I pick DC as the winner. I haven't been buying comics lately, just reading older issues. DC's stories and characters just resonate with me, more. Superman is considered the first super-hero (debateable) and DC is considered the first universe. Sadly, as much as I love comics, I just can't afford the hobby anymore. It seems like comics are dying (with readership dropping and Wizard Magazine shutting down) despite comic movies being more popular than ever.

Characters: I LOVE Captain America and Daredevil. I like Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man but, up against the icons like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Captain Marvel, Green Lantern, etc., they just can't stack up. Marvel characters are supposed to be easier to relate to but the way writers write these days, DC characters hold up, too.

Movies: Hands down, Marvel. DC has managed to consistently fuck up film properties like Steel, Superman, Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, and others. Meanwhile, Marvel has been dropping back to back hits with movies that just aren't good comic book movies, but good movies in general. Blade, X-Men, Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Daredevil.....even when the movies don't blow me away, there's no denying that I've had a good time. DC movies tend to be waaaaay too serious. Haven't seen Green Lantern, though (looks like its based on the Secret Origin comic. Looked pretty true to the source despite the poor reviews. The comic was great, at least).

TV: DC, easily. I watch DC shows like Batman The Animated Series, Batman: Brave and the Bold, Justice League, and such. I'm consistently blown away by the quality of the writing and the stories. When I watch a Marvel animated TV show, they just seem simplified and dumb. Look at Super Hero Squad, Avengers, the 90's X-Men and Spider-Man series, Fantastic Four, or Silver Surfer, Iron Man, Hulk, or what have you. With the exception of X-Men Evolution, they almost always are mindless crap. DC seems to put more heart into their TV shows (as well as little nods to people who only read the comics). Look at Batman: Brave and the Bold. There was an episode where Superman went bad. He yelled at Lois "Serves you right for all the times you tried to trick me into marrying you!" Lois said "I have no idea what he's talking about." A lot of people won't get the joke but it's based off of an old Superman (is a dick) comic book cover!!

Animated Movies: Again, DC. Marvel is trying a little harder with their animated movies and Hulk vs Wolverine was too awesome. Same goes for Planet Hulk. But if you compare the whole Marvel animated product line to DC's animated movies, there's no denying which company is consistently pumping out the higher quality features.

Video Games: Marvel has consistently been pushing video games that are, at least, decent. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Spider-Man, Ultimate Alliance, etc., these games are pretty good! They've been good for a long time. Only recently, did DC get their act together and push out the awesome Batman: Arkham Asylum game. While Batman single-handedly beat every Marvel game, ever, it's just one game. One great game doesn't beat several good games. Marvel wins.

While both are great. I just prefer DC.

In the 90's, there was the Marvel vs. DC crossover. Fans voted on the outcome of five battles:

Superman vs. Hulk. (Superman won)
Wonder Woman vs. Storm (Storm won)
Superboy (Conner Kent) vs. Spider-man (Ben Reilly) (Spider-man won)
Batman vs Captain America (Batman won)
Lobo vs. Wolverine (Wolverine won)

So, Marvel won, 3-2.

If they did it again, I'd like to see:

Superman vs. Thor
Wonder Woman vs. Hulk
Batman vs. Captain America
Green Lantern vs. iron Man
Nightwing vs. Spiderman

(toss in Lex Luthor vs. Doctor Doom, Darkseid vs. Thanos, Joker vs. Green Goblin, and Deathstroke vs. Bullseye for good measure).

DC craps all over marvel imo. The Green lantern, batman, superaman, Static shock as a kid. Its just too much. All marvel has for me is ironman and captain america.

Marvel, without a doubt.

As spdk1 mentioned, DCU has gods as heroes. This is the one of the main reasons why I argue to people over and over to why I don't like the DC Universe. Flash is faster than everyone, Green Lantern can create anything from his mind and fly through space, Wonder Woman is a woman empowered by the gods to be godlike (and apparently even though growing up on an island of only women and hating men, she isn't gay?.... weird) and well Superman, other then being stupidly powerful.

Only Batman could be seen as relatable due to his past and he's human but his skills put him above most, the whole 'Batman Wins' thing, does get old. Superman he plays the 'All "AMERICAN" hero', yet he's dishonest (wrote about Superman in a good light as a reporter), regularly betrays his wife with another 'Woman' and his mind is conflicted, he talks about how he could be bad, he could murder people and I never think he's far off.

DCU has a lot of repetative powersets as well, there are what? about 9 people in the Batman Family now? 4 or 5 Super people? Wonder Woman has 2 Wonder Girls following her. Now the entire Universe if filled with different colour "Laterns". (Well this arguement has since fallen a bit as of recent happenings in the Hulk comics.)

I find Marvel far more relatable and far easier to read and manage. Of course being a fanboy of the X-men, I think I'm biased.

But I do loathe Wolverine to a passion. He's long since lost his hero status when he willing used his claws to murder people. He did it again in the latest Uncanny issue, the story was weird because of it's subject matter and the ending worst becuase of the point that was trying to be made. He has no character development anymore because his character is too wide spread and sadly the only place I feel he is writen to the correct characterisation is in Avengers. A guy who there because he wants to be but doesn't want to lead, gets the job done and tries not to be the Weapon he was designed to be. Whatever happened in the X-men comics to that guy I'd like to know.

I have reduced my buying to just the main 2 X-men comics (Uncanny and the one that used to be called X-men but now I have to refer to it as Legacy). They have since released several different books many with the same characters. We have Uncanny, X-men Legacy, X-men, Astonishing X-men and soon to be the new book 'Wolverine and the X-men' which comes from a big story later in the year. 5 main X-men ongoings. As far as I have been reading, only Uncanny and Legacy matter. This is without mentioning X-force and New Mutants. To be it's a joke, milking what they can.

I also fear this new book as it may include central stories that I miss out on but it has Wolverine as centric and in the title. Unless the idea is to establish him a non-murdering hero then good but he will never do that when he's in X-force. A book which in intself turned several nice people into murderers (poor Angel).

Hmm, pie.
