this one is pretty good

i just bought this one with some minor customization (better graphics card, more memory, ect.) customize right and it can come out to under a grand, though barely. I have had good luck with HP in the past and it seems their warranty is pretty good. course im not an expert at this stuff soooo....

Given everything you have said in the OP, can you add just how well she is at working on computers?

It is very possible that she is just a Mac type of person.
