Forums - Sony Discussion - Would you want Steam integration into PSN store

I was thinking what if Steam is full intergrated and replace PSN store, so basically Steam and PSN store become one and you buy your games on steam and just like the mac/pc setup you can only play the games on the right system. I think this would be an great move for sony to get a leg up over MS and improve there store by giving it into the hands of valve. While Sony would get an share of the pie, valve gets access to millions of new customers on the steam store just like they did with there steamworks setup for portal 2, but this would be on a larger scale. And being that Valve would be still in control of the store this would carry over alot of the steam sales.

Other things that would be good as well if this was to happen would be you only have to buy the game once if its a both PSN and steam title, it will give publishers more of a willingness to release ps3 games on the digital distribution front. And would give more of a push for cross platform play.

I say this would give a win win situation for all, SONY will win by getting a better store they wont have to manage while still getting alot of the profits from it, valve wins by getting more customer base, gamers win because valve knows how to run a digital distribution store well.

what do you think, would you want something like this?

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

What's wrong with the store that it needs replacing?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

The thing about the PS3 is that it's about options. You don't see them trying to replace the PSN store movies with Vudu, Netflix or Hulu+.

What I would like to happen is to have games that are available on both PSN and Steam to be like Portal, so that if you buy the PSN version, you get the steam version (and vice versa). There's plenty of games that are on both (Plants vs. Zombies, Braid, etc. etc.)

this would definitely be a cool idea, sadly I doubt it will happen unless there is a special situation like Portal 2

no

I don't think integration is the right idea, however, steam being an option may be ok. They have already let walmart, netflix, and hulu steal market share in the video department, so why not let valve do the same in the games.

It is not going to be long before Blu-ray machines, and media center devices are capable of PS3/360 level power and running stuff like andriod. Once that starts to happen I am sure it is going to force Sony and the gang to open up a lot more. Might as well get a head start.
