Hey Everyone. I wanted to talk about a franchise that has changed this gen of gaming. Its a franchise that started off from being a typical WWII FPS game to what many will say is the most successful franchise of all of gaming history. This Franchise is ofcourse Call of Duty. Many (If not all of you) have probley played atleast 1 COD game before and probley liked it for a while. Every since 05, COD has became more and more popular every year and it sales are (by far) higher than any other FPS game out in the market right now this gen.

So i wanted to know from yall do you think COD will ever die??? When i say the word "die" i mean will the franchise start to go downhill like Final fantasy has this gen.

Will it eventually get overshawdowed by EA's numerous FPS's franchise's???

What do you think the future holds for this franchise...

More or less this. Guitar Hero got a a solid level of cultural relevance in 2007-2008 that it was hard to imagine that by 2011 it and Rock Band would be virtually forgotten.

Call of Duty is inherently stronger and harder for Activision to kill because you can actually make new content for a CoD, whereas there are only so many worthwhile songs to put in a Guitar game, but kill it they can, and likely will

whyy say this' isn't cod basically halo? there both milked to the ground except halo has been doing it for longer

I'd be willing to bet its' popularity will take a big hit next gen.

Nope. It won't die at least in this generation. The franchise is too casual friendly for it to not be popular. I expect it to remain popular for at least 5-6 more years (at the very least).

yes but tony hawks died when they used that stupid motion junk plus halo reach last year? CE this year and halo 4 next year plus halo 3 in 2007 halo wars in 2008 and halo odst in 2009 halo has also been out every year its just as milked if not more

I don't see it dyeing anytime soon. It has too many fans that buy each yearly sequel. The only way someone could kill COD is if Activision completely fucks MW3 up. Bad metascores, terrible support, everything. It won't die at the hands of Battlefield unless people from DICE hold people from IW/3arc hostage. It just won't happen.

One thing that could badly affect the franchise is the popularity of FPS next gen. If the genre as a whole starts to sink, COD will sink as well.

Halo wars came out in early 2009 i think that was the same year ODST came out. But yea i kinda agree with you. Both Halo and COD are coming out pretty much every year. But i think COD has been milked a little more cause its also had alot of spin-offs.
