Used Copies of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Will be Forever Haunted by the Last Owner

Used Copies of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D might not be worth your money because Capcom made it impossible to for anyone to erase game save date from the game card.

Capcom included a note in Resident Evil's game manual that reads: "Saved data on this software cannot be reset." Translation: Everything is permanent.

What isn't clear, is why they removed the ability to erase saves. We contacted Capcom for comment and will update this story when they respond.

Nintendo 3DS games save directly to the cartridge, so by picking up a used copy of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D you're getting a copy with someone else's game save already written to it. That means that everything may already be unlocked within the game when you pick it up, leaving you without much to do except beat the previous owner's high scores.

Capcom fans have had problems with how Capcom handles their save files in the past as well. Playstation 3 versions of Street Figher IV and Resident Evil 5 as well as other games have save files that lock to the console instead of the PSN ID, leaving users with a broken console or looking to upgrade without their precious progress.

Pretty interesting way to stop people from buying used. I have to admit that if I were actually going to be buying this game I wouldn't buy it used because of that, though I do find it as annoying as some of the worst DRM's out there.

That's one less purchase for me... used or new.

damn I actually like to reset my savegames for games I haven't played for a while..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Won't be buying this crap now. Thanks alot Capcom.

If anything it would incentivize used buyers, if the game has unlockables or anything. Just like in the old N64 days, when you'd rent the one cartridge from the video store that you knew already had everything on it

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

wtf, that's stupid.

I don't think that's really the mentality a lot of people would have.  You put unlockables in a game because people like unlocking them.  It's cool having immediate access to everything but you miss out on the joy on actually unlocking them.

I can see some logic in it, but IMO that logic is surpassed by the stupidity of the move

Wait, you only have 1 slot for saving your progress? What if someone who has bought it new wants to start again from the ground?

Seriously Capcom, WTF is wrong with you!?

Please excuse my bad English.
