Shams sorry to say but this is a piss poor review. Thank god your not on the VGChartz PS3 or PC review teams.

Please tell me there actually arn't going to be reviews on the site. That would be the biggest mistake Ioi could make. People would scream bias from the rooftops way more than they do now.

I second this. Most reviews would be like a copy & paste of SonyDefenseForce anyway.

im sorry but I actually know how to write....

so mine will not be a copy and paste jobs.

Won't matter, you could have the most unbiast reviewers on the internet and it will still hurt the credibility of the website where it matters. The numbers.

Not really as long as we can do it in a professional mannor. Considering ioi allows us mods to report on other new but sales numbers like game releases and all that id say that we already might look bad for reporting on stuff like that but since I have contacts with PSU's PR rep still we have contacts with all devs/publishers so they should at elast like us reviewing games. More reviews the better for any game.

You do realize every major review site out their gets blasted by fanboys left and right saying one company or another bought them out whenever a reveiw gets a score they see as too high or too low. (which ends up being EVERY game before they even play them.) Why the hell would you want to subject videogame chartz to that. Say VGchartz was the one to give a game like Kane and Lynch a bad review, then it's sales numbers reported were lower than the developer expected... how much you want to be we'd have fanboys bitching about about how it's being undertracked because we didn't like the game... and heck, what if the software tracking actually is a little low, which is possible since the software tracking isn't nearly as good as the hardware. That pretty much ends up destroying credibility even though you and I both know they arn't related. How can you not see this happening?

this thread was made to get flamed at. if shams "as a mod" didn't see what was coming as a result of this thread then that's a problem.

i saw my best friend play assasins creed for a full blown hour and i gave my "impressions", which were bad impressions. but when i played the game my own way, it was a different story, now i'm getting the game myself.

seriously man, if somebody else gave an impression of a nintendo game that they only watched (not even played) for 30 minutes, do you honestly think that you won't be all up on that thread critisizing him? i personally think you knew the outcome of this thread and did it for that reason.

For the record, my "score" was purely based on the small amount I saw. I'm sure if I played the entire game I would give it a (different) score with more certainty - I'm *not* saying its a 7-8/10 game, I'm saying that based on what I saw I would score *that* a 7-8/10 (which isn't that bad - a 8 score is NOT a bad score!).

(MP3:C is a 9 for me, for instance - and I think its a lot more polished than Uncharted)

Its no LAIR! :)

...

The whole auto-heal is probably worth a real debate. I understand (and agree) that its purely a gameplay mechanism - and that games shouldn't try to mirror the real world completely. But I did think that it didn't feel right in the context of this game.

Just like in a game like RE4 (unless Leon was infected with something that caused the autoheal), I would feel that it was used out of context.

...

And yes - I was trying to make a point about a "hero" character like Nathan (I presume he is a hero character), taking the "easy" way out and killing everyone. The guys he is up against don't seem that "bad" either - just also out for the same treasure (from what I know - the actual story may change this theory completely).

Look at Indy (movies) - in one movie he is taking out Nazi's (and in the end, he doesn't kill them all anyway) - and in the next, taking out "crazed cult members that enslave children and pull beating hearts out of people" - and he still doesn't kill them all directly, rather gets what he wants - then runs.

Its a bit like David Hasslehoff & Pamela searching ruins for some treasure, and shooting everyone they meet on the way.

I don't mind the idea of a more "mature" aggressive hero, who doesn't shy from killing people (snapping necks, etc..) - I guess that personally he isn't the sort of hero I would form a "attraction" bond with. Too "nasty" for me. I just hope that the game isn't directly marketed towards children, and giving them the impression that this sort of thing is the norm, and acceptable social behaviour.

The autohealing thing is a every-shooter-should-have-one  thing after Halo came along...Gears of War has this mechanism...(unless the suit they used healed them or something...which i don't recall). I really prefer that instead of having to look for health any day :D

(btw...He is fighting modern pirates...it's a kill or be killed situation.)

Lets put this in simple terms.

Don't give Impressions With review contexts. if you ever read a impression from any of the top gaming web sites. Impressions are usually from playing a demo of the game. Also they are call hands-on impressions for a reason. The hands On part Is really important.

all you did here was report back to us with a gameplay trailer. anyone on this site could go on gametrailer, youtube or game videos and have the same experiance you just had.

the thread is flamebait and you should recognize it.

I for one who just Finished Beating uncharted 3 days ago can say with alot more credibility that it was the Best single player game on the Ps3 this year. And I only feel that one game that I have played this year can compete with it and that would be Bioshock and im 40% into that game. Im say this in terms of game I have played this year so Excluding (SMG,Persona 3, Mass effect and quite a few others)

on the point about the Hero character you make no sense to even comment on that without knowing the whole story. If pirates are shooting at you will you sit there and take it or shoot back? Drake Is a hero once you find out what happends in the end. I won't spoil it cause im sure alot of people haven't played thru it.

Meh, I think it was reviewed out of context for a few reasons, but other than that I have no real complaint with it :P I DEFINITELY don't like the Gear of war "Wannabe", personally I thought it's cover system raped gears XD. Maybe it was just because I didn't have to keep raising morons >_>; but it just seemed way more fluid to me.

I've played MANY games this year, those of which include Heavenly Sword, Unreal III, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Assassins creed and Ratchet and Clank Futures, I personally say this game was executed better than any of those, well, maybe not ratchet... but I liked the story a bit more in Uncharted.

Were all entitled to opinions :P, but like I said above I just think it was rated out of context. If it wasn't a game you were interested in playing, I would have stayed away from a review :P Anyone who hates platformers will find plenty wrong with Mario Galaxy.

This is an excellent game. I just finished it yesterday and it was the best single player game i've played yet. Its probably my second favourite ps3 game after Call of Duty 4.

And he's not a murderer, his kills are all self defence. He isn't fighting average treasure hunters, he's fighting just about everything from cursed Spaniards to highly trained soldiers with M4's to crazy black islanders with Kalashnikov's.

Also if you played it, not just watch for 1/2 hour you'd see its not just constant shooting 24/7, its a lot of adventure and stuff like climbing, jumping, running, etc.

I give it a solid 9.3

Thank you for someone finally posting their opinion, and saying that it differs to mine (and giving examples).

I can only post impressions based on what I saw. If/when one day I end up playing (completing) the game, I'll post some more in-depth impressions (+ a review).

I think we must have been stuck in an annoying part of the game (my mate died at *least* 10 times trying to do the bit he was doing), and I can only assume that it wasn't representative of the entire game. There were "platforming" bits, but they seemed more like a forced distraction than anything else.

@shams

The game it's self is supposed to feel very much so like the movie "romancing the stone", one thing you might notice that I thought was really cool, is that often times the enemy's will do the whole "jump out and wildly spray" steriotypical thing that you often see in older movies :P, or if their on an edge when you kill them they do the whole dramatic flail off. The whole game just had a really good feel to it :), if you can get over the shooting aspects I suggest you try it yourself :)
