never the wii will outsell the ps2 in my opinion, wait until the price drop folks, nintendo has started somthing that can't be stopped. Nintendo better increase production to meet demand because it won't slow down anytime soon.

Nintendo are not going to increase production unless demand significantly increases. (that could happen)

I don't forsee the system being readily available for a good, long time. It may not be sold out everywhere at once, but it'll remain sold out at least somewhere for the rest of 2008 and some time to come. Personally, I'm expecting Nintendo to pack WiiFit in with the machine in NA and Europe to insure that the system doesn't stop being the hot thing to buy in those two regions. Come 2009, Nintendo will be ready with a GBColor-like upgraded WiiHD which will remain sold out through 2011, at which time Nintendo will not be able to launch a second "Wii Fit" that keep the system sold out for another year.

So, yeah, Spring/Summer 2011 is when Nintendo will stop being sold out.

And to put a finer point on it, I think Nintendo will increase production two more times this year:  Once to 2.2 million units a month starting in April and again to 2.5 mil/mo in October.

leo j never fails to amuse me. apparently, people saying 09 is unrealistic to him.

Of course, most people would have said that it selling out through all of 07 would have been unrealistic too. Especially certain people who were expecting Wii to only be a fad and to have already died out. *cough* leo-j *cough cough*

Seriously though, with it already being sold out all through 07 there's no reason to think that it won't continue this well through 08 unless Nintendo MASSIVELY ups their shipment rate.

My MOST conservative estimate would put it somewhere toward the 3rd quarter of 08, just before sales start to climb for the christmas rush, it'll be sold out christmas of 08, and then finally start seeing supply meet demand towards the middle of 09.
