Forums - Nintendo Discussion - VGChartz hates Ocarina of Time 3D

Random information for those who haven't gotten the game yet in America the Cd offer has been extended.

"Due to strong demand and technical issues, we are extending this offer. Members who register the game by midnight, Pacific Time on Monday June 20, 2011 will receive the soundtrack CD."

I felt it was easier doing in a Zelda thread instead of making my own one and with that carry on with your bickering.

Former something....

I did not review the game nor do i own a 3DS but I think a 7 is a fair score. You have to understand that this is a REMAKE. The story is exactly the same, the characters are exactly the same, and even the gameplay is basically exactly the same. Why should people want to give a prefect 10 to a newly released game that they already played 10 years ago.

No hate to zelda though. Ocarina of time will be my first game ill buy on the 3ds when i get one even though i know exactly what the game is going to be like!

Wait you mean if you play a game and give it a 10 and then after a while you play the same game again would you all of a sudden give it a 7?

It is still the same game and in this case it improves on it. Now I understand if it is different reviewers but when it comes to the same guy who gave it a 10 and then gives it less even though the game is improved, that I do not get.

Well times change. I would have given Halo 1 a perfect 10 when it released in 2001 but now in 2011 I don't think I would.

Sure dude I believe you :P

BTW did you ever play the original game to even say it is a fair score?

Not trying to make an argument here since im just expressing my opinion but yeah ill agree that no remake should deserve a score over 7. People have already given the game the score before and people have already experienced the game before. I guess my problem is that reviewers should not exactly review the game itself(because again they reviewed it all before) instead they should give a rating of how much better the remaking is than the original.

Your not considering the improvements over the original! Stating that all remakes shouldn’t get a rating over 7 is… just think about it :P

So even if the game is better it should still get a rating lower than the original? Makes no sense to me…

Of course you have the right to have your own opinion but you might find that your opinion will change once you play a remake of a game you thought was great and got improved upon later on

obviously remakes are going to improve upon the original. thats what they are suppose to do. All remakes to do is improve performance-grraphics, tearings, framerate, etc. Otherwise the story the charach, the locations are the same. A person who played ocarina of time 10 years ago would have a brand new experience playing the game. They never experienced the gameplay, charch, etc. before. A person who bought the remake now (not trying to say its a bad thing) and already played it before will have an improved experience but not a brand new one. You alreay know the charachters well, the story well, the gameplay well, etc. Its just a big nostalgia factor.

Well not all remakes succeed on improving a game. Sure the graphics will look better but some developers add or removes things to try to make it better but then fail. I think tomb raider suffered that fate.

Anyway we view things differently so lets just agree to disagree :P

Agree :)

It would seem that most remakes, or upgraded ports such as this, score roughly the same numbers, at least on VG Charts. For example, the PS and GC versions of Resident Evil both scored an 8.6. While the recent Beyond Good and Evil HD scores an 8.9 while the PS2 version has an 8.8. There are many more examples if you look at the data.

That being said, I'm not gonna try to convince anyone that Ocarina 3D deserves a perfect score or you are bias, but to say it deserves a 7 or below is just not realistic to the way games are rated on this site. I'm confident it will even out to a 9-9.7 rating in the future, close to where all the other version of Ocarina.

If I were to review, I would expect some sort of similar score. I have the original Ocarina of Time at a 8.5 and I believe that plenty nice for the game.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

It's blatantly obvious that it's trolls behind it. I'm with Boutros - we should be able to see who rates it what, or at least who claims to own it.

Ocarina of Time was amazing, 10 out of 10.

When it first came out.

I guess not everyone has the nostalgia to rate it incorrectly high for the present's standards. Just look at IGN. They just gave Chrono Trigger a 10/10 again.

Because they played it as kids.

As for me, beating it five times was enough. I'm not paying for the same game a third time.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I thought you had to own a game to be able to rate it. I also thought there was a way to see who owns which game. I'll check when I get home from work.

I happen to have the cash to buy this game and I do want a 3DS. Why haven't I pulled the trigger on this one, yet?

Pull it quick if you want the soundtracks CD.
