Forums - Gaming Discussion - What will be the highest rated console game this year?

Okay I think most people here need to rethink there predictions

-Skyrim: has been in dev for about 5 years now and since GT5 critics have been putting down great games like GT5, LA Noir and duke nukem which probably deserved a 7/10  but got a 5/10 due to countless amount of delays and really long dev time.

Uncharted 3: Most great games made by Sony are getting nitpicked this year all because of GT5. If a great game like GT5 got a 86 game rankings score no matter how good games like Killzone 3 and Infamous 2 are they can't get much more. It will most likely get above 90 but not the same surprise Uncharted 2 gave us. (I hope I'm wrong)

Zelda Sykward Sword: There hasn't been a console Zelda in a long time. So people are going to expect a lot. But it will get pretty good.

MW3: Critics will be blinded by hype

Here's what I reckon-

Skyward Sword will win (96-98). The fact it's a Zelda game puts it above 90 immediatly. Then you have all the new stuff, the open world promise etc. All the 3D Zelda games on consoles have scored above 95 (99,96,95,97 FYI), why would SS be different? Saying anything other than Zelda, no matter the game, is often a mistake. Critics just love it more than any other series...

Skyrim (93) will come close. The great overworld, monsters etc. will raise the bar for the series, but the lack of aim and clumsiness will hurt it.

Uncharted 3 (93) will be another close contender. Whilst better than previous games, it'll be marked down because of a sequel. It won't do enough new stuff to be the best, though will likely win the most awards.

Gears 3 (91) will do well also. But not up there with the rest.

Finally, MW3 (89) will show to reviewers that the series is stagnating. I doubt it'll get amazing scores because it's COD, like last year...

I may start a thread to do this actually.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I think Uncharted 3 scores will be similar to and may even surpass uncharted 2 scores. With bigger better set pieces, new weapons, great story, unbelievable graphics and a completely revamped multiplayer experience, I think Naughty Dog might raise the bar (again!).

Killzone 3 says hi

notice "great story" ;P

I'm going to go with Gears of War.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Zelda or Uncharted 3

Zelda and Uncharted 3 will have their work cut out for themselves against one another, but those are the more likely contenders out of the set

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

What is SHOULD be:

Dark Souls

Every other game listed here is over-hyped, over-blown, and unoriginal.

People really need to stop with the "Reviewers are biased" bullshit, opinions are opinions, if the game is not liked generally, then it'll get lower scores, that's why average reviews are counted, not individual ones.

Portal 2 will stay the top rated one, with maybe Zelda taking the crown, but attempting to predict review scores based on previous instalment is just ridiculous, it's like expecting a good king's son to be even better.

It'd be nice of Dark Souls take the best score, but I am somehow doubting it, it looks like what's going to be a great game, good news it's coming to 360.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.
