I did just that a month or so after they launched the slim, (and I was able to find it for $280 tax included). The new one is quieter and cooler. I have since transfered all of my saves to the slim and use it as the primary gaming machine.

I respect the fats hardwate too much to put her through any more gaming marathons.

The beautiful chrome and gloss black 60 gig will live on. The memory of paying for the best tech ever at $600 will always be represented through her shimmering glory filled memories.

I think a 50$ pricecut reveal in GamesCom just like in 2009, 199$ pricecut is something for next year imo

Sony won't drop it's price before Microsoft.

Well our TV broadcasts are eventually going digital. That means we'll need some sort of device connected to our 2nd TV to be ale to get digital TV. I can either get at digital TV set top box or a 2nd PS3 with Play TV. If PS3 price drops here and we have the financial wherewithal I think I'll go 2nd PS3 because it will also mean being able to watch our Blu-ray movie collection on either TV.

theres only one way i think sony can win the holidays and thats cut the price to $199 even though a $50 price cut is more likely a $100 doller price cut with a fair whack of advertising maybe even a 160gb uncharted 3 ps3 for $249 would be a major steal but here are my predictions

January 2012 predictions

1st situation with no pricecuts:

PS3: 62 million

360: 65 million

Wii: 102 million

2nd situation with $50 price cut each

PS3: 64 million

360: 66 million

Wii: 100 million

3rd situation [ps3 $100 price cut]
PS3: 65 million

360: - cant estimate because i dont think they can do a $100 cut

although 360 might be a bit higher since gear's beastly pre order amount and ofcourse call of duty

Of course a console for $100 less is going to sell quickly.

They'd been smarter to only drop it $50. Would have still sold well and made them more money.

pretty sure it's coming to 199 officially at tgs. I thought it would be dropped for E3, but TGS makes more sense as TGS is generally a hardware show, and they have a new SKU patented. This coincides with reports about the new "unhackable" ps3.

Plus, almost every major retailer has seen a 199$ price point for some period within the last few weeks. Gamestop, walmart, target, now amazon. 199$ looks more and more likely for tgs and the new model.
