IMO the best thing Sony can do right now is make sure PS3's are moving and making a profit. If they can drop to $249.99, sell well, and make good profits, that is the best. Market share is no longer an issue this gen. So right now is about cutting losses, and helping fund game, and next gen development.

Realistically, a deal like this sells out quickly because anyone who is planning on buying a PS3 in the near future will jump on a deal like this; and the number of units a retailer like Amazon has on hand is inadequate to handle the increased demand for any period of time.

I would've bought one had it still been up. I speculated if the PS3 would be the console of choice because the other day I noticed they were having a video game console deal today and they've been doing a lot of PS3 promotions lately.

At 199 € I'd buy one. But let's be realistic, Sony won't cut the price by 100 € at once. They will cut it by 50 and leave it at 249, and maybe add a game.

It did not sell out, the way gold box deals work is that Amazon has an X amount of units they are willing to sell at price Y, once that X is reached they stop selling at price Y and sell at regular Amazon prices. Also, I would love to see 199 as a perm price.
