Besides starcraft 2 I'm a console man buddy.

Good to know, thanks for telling us. Not sure how that is really relevent to a thread about mistakes devs shouldn't make when making PC games tho.

It's a thread on pc devs and games...so ya I think my post isn't that bad, what ever I suppose you have fun critiqueing others.

No it just seemed like a weried post given the thread, maybe I read to much into it but it seemed like you were saying that you didn't care because you only played one PC game so the rest didn't concern you. Which made me wonder why you would come into a thread about PC games when you don't really care about them. And kinda also dissmissing the problems because they don't affect you.

I guess I am just a bit neurotic, I blame the lack of sleep.

It's fine lol, get some sleep

Sleep is for losers, winners never sleep

Now I just need some kind of drug that will allow me to never sleep...

It's a thread on pc devs and games...so ya I think my post isn't that bad, what ever I suppose you have fun critiqueing others.

So you are a console player, and PC developers and games concern you.... how exactly? I'm failing to see the connection there.

LOl? I said I play sc2 bro, what is there not to understand and overall I'm a gamer so yes all types of gaming concern me, aren't you a gamer also whom is concerned with what's going on in the industry?

It would be more useful if you actually put in some discussion points other than just, "I play Starcraft 2 and console games". Zarx posted 2 detailed articles about the direction devs are taking with PC games. It might be more helpful if you gave some input into what you thnk of the current direction and the current goings on in the industry with these articles in mind. With you comming from a pre-dominantly console POV it would be fairly interesting too.

Alrighty then fair enough I see the thread's some what of a rant on what devs do to pc games, ranging form controller use to mouse speed, to me that sounds like such a hassle to deal with, so my question is what's preventing most pc gamers from playing on consoles instead?

Is it the community? I do understand because the console community can be pretty damn STUPID at times. For example, at times I would play KZ3 on my fancy ps triple I meet people on bluetooth talking in game that are just plain awful people. Like, these people just mess with the team and what not, an example being when there's some dumb guy on the opposing team whom team that goes 1 kill 12 deaths and his team wins and he starts bad mouthing my team, of which I may be 20 kills 11 deaths, and man it just gets me to wondering like what the hell you did worse than the worse guy on my losing team you freak!

Well the community can be a huge reason as to stick to pc gaming even with all the hassle, at least that's my guess, but what's really the issue at hand? Why not play console games to avoid the hassle?

Community is one reason, but not the only one. I play both consoles and PC for instance, but some games I would much rather play on PC whether that be for interface (e.g. mouse aiming is just much faster for shooters) or as Vlad has already touched on freedom (which ties in with community to be fair). On consoles, LBP gives the player huge amounts of freedom, but it still pales into comparison to what's available on the PC.

Many game devs start first by creating mods like Counterstrike, and the guy that created the OOO mods for Oblivion was actually brought onboard for Fallout New Vegas as a consultant. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are good examples of games that can be completely tranformed and improved by mods, and this just isn't possible in the currently restrictive environment of the consoles.

For the hardcore PC Gamer you also have the fact that the hardware will always be improving. It doesn't cost that much now to get PC games looking much better than their consoles counterparts.

I almost wish console had pointers as badass as the mighty mouse lol

It looks like both in Deus Ex: HR and The Witcher 2 devs cared to follow many commandments (also patching the game when the original released PC version generated complaints from users): very good, and shame on bigger devs and publishers when they piss PC gamers off.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.

TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

Strangely, said games seem to have sold very well too.
