Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo release games for Wii once Wii-U is out?

I was thinking that they could keep selling Wiis to people at an even lower price for another 12 months or so after Wii-U's release, based on the existing software, but that they might continue to support Wii by releasing stuff, say the Super Mario Bros Mii game, on both consoles...

I think this would be a pretty sensible strategy.

The Wii could keep on selling for perhaps 2 years after Wii-U if they continued to advertise the original Wii around holiday time with perhaps a Wii-type game.

Just a thought.

Yes.

I doubt it, Miyamoto said that Skyward Sword will most likely be the last Wii games he and his development team will make.

Maybe like one of two first party titles, then not really. Maybe another price drop, but probably not. Then they will focus on the Wii U

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Well I'm expecting Okami 2 to be announced during TGS for Wii, and will be released a few weeks before Wii U arrives.     ...

If history is any indicator, hell no. It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo started pushing announced Wii games to the Wii U. Their track record isn't too great. Even with the huge installed base, Nintendo has been quick to drop support of their past systems as soon as the next console hits the market.

You might see a few stragglers, but not much. I wouldn't count on it.

The new control of the wii u makes a game like okami 2 perfect for the new hardware.... think about it... i think okami 2 will be one of those 3rd party exclusives that people have been wondering about wii u....

As far as first party games for wii.... NO, i expect more price drops and more bundles.... not actual games...
