I was thinking that they could keep selling Wiis to people at an even lower price for another 12 months or so after Wii-U's release, based on the existing software, but that they might continue to support Wii by releasing stuff, say the Super Mario Bros Mii game, on both consoles...
I think this would be a pretty sensible strategy.
The Wii could keep on selling for perhaps 2 years after Wii-U if they continued to advertise the original Wii around holiday time with perhaps a Wii-type game.
