Forums - Sales Discussion - The Playstation 3 isn't dead

I've been reading the forums for awhile now and I've noticed that everyone loves to hate the Playstation 3. A lot of the people diss the Playstation 3 because other people do, which seems more like a trend, then a real reason. I'm not here for that though, but to discuss the future of the Playstation 3.

Everyone says that the Playstation 3 will come in last and will die off, but your all wrong. I don't see a company like Sony just giving up. Everyone who owns a Playstation 3 knows the system is well worth it and should not be over looked. Am I a Sony fanboy? No, just someone who has a little more faith in Sony, then someone who's looking on the outside in. I've owned my Playstation 3 for a year and Sony has brought us so many features and updates, which have made the system that much better, but I don't think people notice that.

I do think that the Playstation 3 has a chance to come above the 360, but it will take awhile to pass the Wii.  Everyone is comparing the Playstation 3 to how the Gamecube and Dreamcast died, but the system is in a whole different catorgory. This is a whole new generation and a new generation of costumers, so don't use the past sales to determine the Playstation 3's future. No one here is a physic and it's all based on your predictions, which are bias 50% of the time.

I will say it and other Playstation 3 owners have been saying it. 2008 will be the year for the Playstation 3. They are bringing their heavy hitter games, Home, which everyone on the Playstation forums are going nuts about. Home will be talked about and hyped in 2008, so I see it bringing more attention to the system. I think we have all noticed how much the Playstation 3 has changed since the price cut and new 40GB Playstation 3, which shows that people still do want the system.

More and more people are going HD, which they will want a game system that is HD, but can the Wii offer that? I think not. More people are going to want a entertainment system, then just a game system. The Playstation 3 is entertainment all in one and when people are ready for that, then it's going to be a good year for Sony.

The Wii has been able to do something that Microsoft and Sony haven't been able to do and thats to attract their game console to everyone. I do believe that the Wii is bought by more casual gamers, then your everyday hardcore gamer. Thats why you might find that Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners say the Wii sucks, while the casual gamers are sticking up for the Wii. You find that most people who own the Wii bought it for the whole family to use or people who have stuck by Nintendo threw the years. I honestly don't think that the Wii is amazing or better because their ahead in sales. I think they have really good marking and advertising, but the system fails as a true next gen gaming system. Thats most likely why It's a competition between the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

I look at the Wii ending up as the first console, then the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 as the second. Everyone wants the Wii now and the PS3 and 360 later. I don't see many hardcore gamers buying the Wii and if they do, then like I said, they will end up getting the PS3 or 360. I think it's to early for everyone to say the the Wii will stay ahead. It depends on how long people will fall into the Wii's gimmicky hardware and games or if those casual gamers want more of an entertainment system. The Wii played it smart, but it will bite them in the ass later I think.

Yes, he registered just to say that the ps3 rulez and the Wii it's a gimmicky piece of hardware and he is not trolling. I bet that 99% of his posts will say pretty much the same thing.

Just an opinion. Most people my age who have jobs can afford to invest in a more mature console like a PS3. Not exactly gona have the lads round before we go out to play on the wii. Its a ll about preference. Average 25 yr old for example likes fighting football music etc.

See what I did there? I pointed out why this thread fails.

Their is nothing hardcore about the Wii. Coming from someone who owns a Playstation 3, I could never downgrade and goto the Wii. Really, the Wii fails in many other hardware aspects, but their is no need to go into that. I'm sure you know that already. The Wii is gimmicky, which you should know that also.
