RAGE, once of my most anticipated shooters this gen, will be a sales flop.
Dont get me wrong. I think it will be a GREAT game, as I love Carmack and iD softwares style of FPS. It seems to have unique driving elements and large open worlds. The graphics also look good, but next to Crysis2, Killzone 2, Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3, Rage suddenly isnt as spectacular as it was a couple years ago.
This game has simply been in development far too long. 6-7 years now.
RAGE could've been a sales monster and heavy hitter in the FPS market if it had come out last summer. The market is way too oversaturated right now and there is too much FPS competition.
It's also releasing the same day as Resistance 3 on PS3 which Sony is pushing pretty hard. Gears 3 comes out a month later on 360.
John Carmack has an interview up on Gamespot and he flat out admits the game took way too long to develop. It seems like he knows they missed the boat on the console FPS craze.
I don't see RAGE being a good seller. Maybe 2 million on 360 and 1 million on PS3. Decent sales... but considering how long it took them to develop, will be considered a huge flop.
