Hmm, I'm kinda conflicted on this. Surprised at how well its doing, but also not surprised because it has a hardcore fanbase.

What is causing you to be conflicted? I've seen this sentiment elsewhere; all I can come up with is that Sekai Project have burned people being interested in Kickstarted VN's on Vita. Which is a legitimate concern.

It's largely because great fan translations have been out there for a while, and if they're raising all this money to use an completed fan translation....
Kinda in a wait and see until we get more information. I applaud the effort to get the license and try to bring it out though.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, fair enough. Kind of a reverse XSEED here, who I believe paid some fan translators to use their version of one of the previous Ys games so they could release it commercially!

In the 1st chapter I was excited to see how the story was being set up and trying out the new gameplay so it didn't feel bogged down. It was mainly chapters 2 and 3 that made me feel that way. One of the two in particular felt like it would never end. Chapters 4 and 5 were fantastic though.

Yeah, it does look pretty good. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
I tweeted the dev and they said they're aiming for a late October release.
