Sony Computer Entertainment filed for the registration of the trademark “PixelOpus” with the US Patent and Trademark office.

In this case it’s not the usual mysterious upcoming title, but the name of a studio mentioned in passing by the New York Times, and that is supposed to unveil its first game at E3.

This actually tells us that PixelOpus (“Opus” means “Work” in Latin) is a full fledged first party studio owned by Sony, since the house of PlayStation filed for ownership of the trademark. If it was just a second party initiative, or a third party under the wing of the publisher, the studio itself would have filed for the registration of the name independently.

We may have a surprise incoming as that New York Times mention a possible PS Vita title from this new studio.

Technically that isn't a surprise since we know about it :p

That was quick!

Wow Borderlands 2 debuted in the top 20 (18th) in the UK on Vita o_O (there were no other handheld titles in the top 40 at all).

Vita seems to be consistently getting it's new releases into the charts now. That's gotta be progress... right?

Can't say it was a weak software week this week what with Watchdogs and Mario Kart both debuting.

According to IGN: Sony's E3 2014 Press Conference begins at 6:00 PM PST, Monday June 9.

By "new" I'm assuming they mean new and not just putting Reel Fishing II on PSN?

Anyway, I'm glad they're still alive. It'll be neat to see what they do with Harvest Moon. (Neat, and maybe kind of depressing.)
