So I got my PS4! Got everything setup and had a chance to test out remote play on my own network. Unsurprisingly it works great! There is slight compression and at least on Need For Speed: Rivals there was some shutter when there was tons of stuff going on sometimes. All in all though, it works exactly like I expected which is awesome. I actually think I'll play my PS4 through remote play more than on an actual TV (like I'm doing right now lol). It's awesome just lying here in bed and just checking everything out on my Vita.

Congrats BlowoverKing on your purchase. Enjoy your PS4.

Great news about Remote play. I honestly can't picture myself playing a lot on home consoles (haven't turned on my ps3 in months) so remote play especially indoors is a great deal for me. Too bad i won't be getting a ps4 till January, then again there aren't many games I'm interested in to warrant a purchase yet.

You know what would be funny?, if people with decent net connections started letting friends/forum buddies sync their vitas to the other persons PS4 and play the ps4 games over the net while the PS4 owner was at work or asleep.

Thinking of it that way, im going to give my brother my spare Vita and let him use my PS4 when im not using it.

Advanced warning, as of the current v3.00 firmware, Vita TV DOES NOT allow PS4 Remote play, despite the same 3.00 update enabling it on the standard Vita.

Well seeing as PS4 isnt out in Japan why would it. PSVita TV is currently region locked so it wont work with a US PS4.

It isnt region locked, the servers for it to login to other regions just arent enabled, it throws the same error you get when trying to login to the ps store during maintanence. sure you cant do it, but it doesnt mean that its locked.

Also, my japanese Vita has PS4 Link, despite being japanese..  the Vita TV uses the exact same update file.

oh ok, wonder what the deal is then

Remote Play looks pretty impressive - if it works well on Need for Speed then it should work perfectly on JRPGs/slower paced games. The real test for me is how it copes over the internet, because I'm still a little unsure as to whether to buy a PS4 soon because I'll be off to university hopefully next September and I won't be home more than 1/2 the year to use it, but if remote play lets me play on vita, that wouldn't matter.

Also hi guys, long term lurker finally signed up, nice to actually take part in this crazy beast of a thread!!! :)

Welcome!

Yeah, nothing but praise for the remote play as of late. Funny how Scott Lowe (tech guy at IGN) was talking during a recent podcast Beyond how he thinks that Sony overpromised on remote play, and it will be possible, close to what they have showed, in a couple of years. How he changed his tune when he tried it during their review event on 11th Nov had to eat those earlier words lol

It looks so good, and my internet is fast, no bandwidth cap, so it may accelerate my purchase of the Vita.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Media Create data on this week's sales:

Akiba's Trip 2 ___ 33,000 pcs (PS3 version 20,000)
Extetra ________ 11,000 pcs

I don't know if such (physical) sales can be considered OK for Acquire's games, but speaking of Extetra, it feels like a flop. The 3DS version didn't even enter the top 20.

Extetra for 3DS sold less on it's first week than Neptunia re:birth1 on it's second week...

kind dissapointed on akiba strip2, was hoping for some above 50k on vita... but I hit the spot with ps3's being arround 20k--- :)

The remote play looks great, and work great for what I look... I probably will use that function a lot :)
