Agree with the comment that the price war is between the 360/PS3 - not the Wii. As far as Im concerned, the 360/PS3 do the SAME thing (and yes, I don't care about BluRay, and would prefer a cheaper PS3 without one), so the 360 winsout being significantly cheaper.

Consumers obviously perceive the Wii being great value at its current price point - we can see that in the "sell out" sales. So it doesn't need to drop in value... in fact, Nintendo's biggest mistake may have been to not price it at $50 more. Many people would not then buy it, but it may still sell out - so its wasted money for Nintendo.

There is no perception that the PS3 is "good" value at its current price. At least, that is the best scenario/explanation for the current sales - the worse explanation is that people just don't care (possibly true, with lack of killer software).

...sigh... Of course demand for Wii will rise as the price comes down. More people have $150 than have $250.

If having more room to drop your price is an advantage, then Sony should have launched PS3 at $12,000 or so.

Like it or not, Wii will always have a big honkin' price advantage.

Honestly, this has far more to do with personal priorities than it does with wealth ...

With the exception of the super-rich, every household ends up having unlimited  wants and limited resources and are thus forced to make decisions about the importance of everything. In most households gaming becomes a very low priority and thus you (probably) never get to the point where the price is so low that everyone is willing to buy it.

You're just trying to talk your way out of it that PS3 is 2x more expensive then a Wii... And at the same time trying to say that is a good thing...  I don't even have to say the answer, which (i hope for you) you already know but are not willing to admit to yourself...

I don't know what are you trying to say. If you think Nintendo has total control over the market right now you are just stupid. Nintendo can't deliver killer blow... Mercy doesn't exist in business. They would love to see Sony and Microsoft with 5 % of market share or less but right now they just can't make it happen.  It's not that easy as you are trying to simplify. Price is not everything. You can't satisfy gamers who want to see new quality in graphics with Wii. All this thread is just stupid it leads nowhere.

I think nintendo won't lower their price for a while, I read anarticle from a ladyh at nintendo and she said"If we knew demand was going to be this high, we would have raised the price by 50.

I think when Mario Galaxy comes out that will give nintendo another great lead.
