Forums - Sales Discussion - 360 Numbers don't add up!

Random() said: Alvar said: Random() said: What does this site have to gain by saying MS didnt sell 10 million? You seem to take Microsoft's statistics at face value as you seem to try to fit there estimates with your numbers. And you have to agree that MS has an interest in misleading us... but really why would VGCharts lie? do you think they are run by Nintendo or Sony? it just seems that you really want to spin numbers until we agree that the 360 is the sytem of the gods. \ the numbers i really would like to see is what % of 360's are defective. because i know of a few people with broken down 360's... yours truly included. Been checking around different forums and sites a bit trying to find some real numbers myself... and I just had to sign up to ask... Are you serious that you trust the numbers on this site because you don't see the reason they would lie? That does not make any kind of sense at all. Of course you have to question the numbers if they don't show where they got them from. They could be missinformed themselves, you don't need to actively lie to post something incorrect. im serious. i think vg charts is reputable. Mostly because good video game sites link to it. Monty on the other hand sounds like someone from MS Publc Relations. believe whatever you want, but VG charts numbers make sense to me.
rofl ... MS Public Relations...lol probably true. Monty do you work for M$?

LOL at Monty saying XBox sold 600,000 December 2002.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

I think by the end of 07 360 will be able to have sold at least 3.5 million consoles (To reach 12 million and be 50% of Xbox1's 24 million)

Why do you guys even bother argue with Monty? when he kept changing his number and make it sound like nothing happen.

Considering that Box1 was out for only 4 years, reaching half its total in well over 2 years wouldn't be really impressive anyways.

Guys, Just for your information, here is some game console sales in Canada released by the Canadian Press for 2006 http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070116/cda_video_games_070116/20070116

Well ,having in count that the X360 has sold only 250 000 consoles in Canada ,added to the ones of 2005 .....well I dont see the total for NA going for more than 4.85 million at 31 dec .....I think the data in the main page continues to oversize the amount of X360 sold .

Monty said: Canada and Mexico are not as small of a market as you people want to make them, and I'm 100% positive they tally more than 10% of the US total. I'd put the figure closer to 20%...
Well it seems we were assuming 360 had sold 300k in Canada but in fact it wasn't even that. NPD released information showing just 252k units sold in Canada. 360 keeps coming short on sales in every way. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6164288.html 20% of USA. hahaha. Looks like just around 5%. Monty you were way off base with your Canada estimates, you were way off base with your US estimates. Maybe you should stick to your day job.

A lot of you are trying to say that 12 months of Canada and Mexico would only be 300k... that's simply crap. I'd say it's pretty conservative to say that Canada and Mexico sold another 1 million on top of that for the entire year of 2006. This is one of my favorites: Canada and Mexico are not as small of a market as you people want to make them, and I'm 100% positive they tally more than 10% of the US total. I'd put the figure closer to 20%... And just for fun - here's one more: Also, if you're at all competent in video game sales history, you'd know that 2 million for NA is not that much of a stretch for Dec. If it's not 2 million, it is damn close. - Hey, Mr. Videogame Historian - how many 360's were sold in December??? 1.1million???
That's a classic :D

Townzy said: Also lets assume the 5.38m for NA and .32m for Japan are correct (for year end 2006) the 2.64m for Other is way too low. 900k have been sold in UK, 150k have been sold In Aus Last Gen there were 6m Xbox's sold in Europe (2m in UK) so UK accounts for roughly 33% of sales 900 / 3 = 2.7m in Europe (+ 150k in AUS) = 2.85m But thats not all. last gen 2m were sold in Asia with 450k of that being in Japan (i think asia included 800k Aus sales) = 800k for the rest of Asia so japan accounts for another 33% of Asia = 320* 3 = 1m = 3.85m 360 has also launched in all new country's (india, china, korea) another 150k is viable from these so 4m for other is about right. 360 is at about 9.2 - 9.4m WW
These numbers seem to be pretty more accurate than vgcharts numbers.
