Forums - PC Discussion - Vista tops the list of Yahoo's 10 Worst Tech Products of 2007

I have been a windows user my whole life, but I just bought a Mac Book Pro a few days ago because I didn't want to ever have to touch vista. Leopard might not be perfect but it is a whole lot better than vista.

Whew! I'm glad I switched to linux (PCLinuxOS) years ago and so did the company I work for (as well as all of my family members and friends). That way I (we) don't have to mess with any stupid M$ issues anymore (including their continued awful offers in Vista). Plus, with the price tag of $0 (just an .iso download for a live-cd to 'try before you fly' type deal) the switch and HUGE software repository, it's a lot easier switching away from the forced-upgrade-cycle of Winblows machines and Macs. You can snag pclinuxos at www.pclinuxos.com. Just download the .iso, burn the cd, boot from the cd, and give it a go.

There are only a few things that I don't like about Vista. The first is that it eats up memory. If it's available, it will use 1.5 GB of memory, but when other applications need the memory, then it will do the same type applications in a more modest 600MB, so why is it eating up so much memory when it obviously doesn't need as much?

This has been beaten to death. That's a good thing. Any half decent operating system will do this. Vista's memory managment is far better than XP's.

If the memory is there, take advantage of it. Just like disk caching helps improve web-browsing, caching stuff in memory allows better overall performance. Ever wondered why applications start faster the second time? That's why.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

im glad i use a mac but dont use leopard :)

Did you only read the title? I'll help you out here: "(Now, before you Mac fanboys out there begin gloating, let me remind you that Leopard shipped a full six months late, and that many users are still suffering from sluggish, buggy systems after upgrading.)"

 Oouch...

Well I wasn't gloating. :p I just said I was glad I use a mac. And I'm not using Leopard, I'm still on Tiger. :p

Everyone I know who tried Vista traded it in after a week or so and "upgraded" to XP.

Does Vista support SATA drives etc when installing?

XP always wants me to install a driver via a floppy.

Linux has full support!!

That's odd, I never have problems with XP and SATA.

I run Vista and I'm fine with it.  There have been some issues, mainly with the 64bit version.  Started using it because I wanted to setup my 360 as a Media Center Extender. I love that function now.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.
