I do not like the name.
It sounds like police sirens
" Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U Wii-U"

In my mind, I just imagine it stands for Wii Ultra so I can sleep at night. The controller does not look very ergonomic either; I can't imagine playing Smash Bros. or Call of Duty on that.

The games were good though but I hope they improve on a LOT more in the next year.

Are we 100% sure on this? Looks like it supports the Wii too? Or does the controller support the Wii and Cafe and controllers can be used on both?

The console is HD and is 100% retro compatible. The presentation focuses on the controler though as it's a standard 2 sticks controler but has a gyro an accelerometer a camera a mic , 2 speakers and a screen. The controler is only for Wii U.

However the controler can be used in some instances alone... such as for Wii fit. But for the most part it streams off the console (no need to compute stuff = more battery life).

It rose more questions, how can I confirm whether I like it or not!?

So they basically turned a DS into a home console? I just don't know what to say. It's a DS that can't leave home.

I think you missed the point... its an HD console with a controler that has more functions... including a second screen (like Sega did for the DC but in way more advanced ^^)

I'd just call it the U... Remember when we were discussing possible Wii2 names I suggested Nintendo Us/Oz xD

I like the name a lot - but it's because in my mind, the "U" stands for "unlimited" - which sounds pretty cool to me.

well U is smart as it's a linked II ^^ but they could have dropped the ii part and made it a Wu :p (though that name is already used in china no? =)

For all we know, the Wii U might have it's own controllers, ones without a screen. But today Nintendo just wanted to focus on the new controller.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I'm sorry but thats a horrible name.

As opposed to what; Wii Too/Wii 2, Wii You/Wii U?

Seeing as how Nintendo has never named any of their consoles by numerical sequence NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, it's no surprise they didn't go with Wii 2.

Keeping the Wii brand name just makes sense on the basis of brand recognition of an immensely popular device to general consumers (like NES to SNES).

And yes, the name is still pretty awful, but mostly because it's still called the "Wii" which despite being accepted due to its sheer popularity, still goes down in my book as the most retarded name ever conceived for a gaming platform.
