Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza 4 will boast a polygon count of over 1 million compared to 400,000 in Forza 3?

Gotta be honest I thought Forza 3 already looked better than GT5 did for the most part. GT5 had it beat with some of its premiums but as a whole Forza 3 was the better looking game.

And Forza 4 utterly blows it out of the water honestly. I never got the GT5 hype. Sure it IS the most realistic sim out there but I just don't see it as on par with Forza both graphically and gameplay wise.

But I can understand the love for Gran Turismo, it just seems really dated to me.

No question GT5 had better lighting than FM3 but it lagged behind in many other areas graphically....shadows, mostly low poly cars (with no cockpit views for those) and inconsistent environment quality.  Feature wise it was no contest IMO, FM3 was better, especially with things like the livery editor.  Now with the new lighting model and other graphic improvements I think FM4 surpasses GT5 in terms of graphics.

The one thing I'm still hoping to see is weather but there have been hints that they will indeed have weather effects.

really *tilts head*

No, my metric was a lot of the stuff I loved about Forza 3 wasn't in GT5 so I didn't buy it.  Meaning crappy customization and no cockpit view for the majority of cars.  I don't see how a driving game can be a sim if you're looking at your car from behind, but that's just my opinion.

Forza 3 wins in features because it includes things to appeal to every car lover, not just sim enthusiasts, yet you can still play as a sim if you wish.

ehhhhhhh fair enough, even though every one who plays GT knows it a sim and only a sim.

Never said it wasn't a good driving sim, GT5 is fantastic in that regard, but to me lacks many of the features which makes Forza 3 appeal to ALL lovers of cars rather than just providing a realistic driving experience.  GT is obviously the more established franchise, especially in Europe.

Having said that, Forza 4 looks it might surpass it in both graphics and maybe physics with their new tire physics.

Wow at that article, the amount of nonsense it contains is insane. And for starters the standard cars in GT5 are better looking for the most part then the ones in Forza3. Please tell me where the snow, dirt, rain, night driving, b-spec mode are in Forza? Please tell me where the 1080p gameplay is in forza? And just FYi you can bump your way to first in Forza much better then in GT5.

The damage in Forza is also useless, how does it work in that game again, get bumped from behind end up with paint scratches over the front of your car.

There are many different degrees of standard cars, and with many of the patches the standard cars got better. Textures and lighting were vastly improved on the standard cars.
