Recently I've gotten into music much more than I ever have before. I bought cds for the first time in years.

I'm fine with any genre you can give me though I would prefer rock.

I love rock. I would say have a look at...

A Perfect Circle. They really seem to be able to 'access' something with their music. Listen to 'The Noose' on the album 'Thirteenth Step'. My favourite rock song.

System of a Down. Forget the new albums, you need to dig a little to see the raw beauty beneath the madness. Get Metro and Snowblind (miscelanous albums) and the first two albums SOAD and Toxicity are well worth a look. Many of their tracks are too much for me, but I can't help but love Chop Suey, Toxicity, Marmalade etc.

AFI. You have to listen to 'Silver and Cold'.

Incubus. Listen to 'S.C.I.E.N.C.E' first. Definitely, then have a look at 'Make Yourself'.

Audioslave. First album.

Create a last.fm profile and scrobble the music you listen/like and then check the stuff recommended to you. :)

if you want to take a break from rock music and if you are interested in a new fresh performer, but a great one mind you , check out Jamie Woon , his album is called MirrorWriting, its his first album , and its actually was released a couple of months ago.

its very easy listening, and you are going to listen to it for awhile. its not  the badass Rock or Heavy Metal with complex riffs , or very gangsta rap or hip hop, its just very simple and clean.

another suggestion is of course one of my favorite bands, Dead Can Dance, probably any album from them they're very experimental, yet very folklorish and at the same time very "deep" in musical structure.
