At this point I don't think Sony gives a fuck about all these hackers. I don't think they can get any more bad media even if they get hacked to the ground either.

Hack away and take what you can hackers, not that you will get anything useful in the first place.

These are the types of ignorant quotes that do a disservice to rational & logical disussion

How  about readingthis UltimateUnknown.....

Sony’s Stock Drops 2.08 Billion Dollars Since PSN Outage

Who knew being hacked and losing all user account information worldwide is bad for business? Apparently gamers aren’t the only ones who are pissed off about the PSN outage; stock holders have been selling their shares like hotcakes. I recently was given a quick lesson in economics that I will now share with you (keep in mind these are quick approximate numbers and calculations). The market cap for Sony is at 28.19 billion, the last traded price was at $28.06 per share. By dividing the market cap by the last traded price you can figure out the total shares outstanding which is roughly 1.004 billion. The closing trading price on 4/20 was 30.14 per share. The closing trading price on 5/6 was 28.06 per share. If you subtract the two you get a 2.08 stock loss. If you take the 2.08 stock loss and times it by the total shares outstanding of 1.004 billion you therefore get 2.08 billion dollars in lost stock profits.

You don't think sony cares about stock prices dropping off a cliff??

Today's sony share price is down to $26.54 so sony has lost MORE THAN 4 BILLION dollars in stock price alone since the original security failure

And this doesn't include  the 170 million dollar PSN loss

I meant that comment as a joke.

But yes, stock prices going down was expected after such a big scandal, but didn't really anticipate 4 billion in loses in about a month.

Nonetheless, I am almost willing to bet, all the other divisions of Sony that have gotten hacked were probably using similar security to what the Playstation had. At this point, Sony should anticipate hack attacks on any and all divisions and upgrade to the latest security as they did to the Playstation network, not wait it out to upgrade until they are under attack. Otherwise, they really can't say they didn't see it coming when they go bankrupt (probably won't go bankrupt, but take even major hits to stocks).

Sadly civil discussions and rational thought are a rarity of feats in online discussion boards.  Far too many people use the witless, pop in, nonsensical chatter and say nothing of value.  Intellectual impotence pervades the majority of banter here.

But I don't want to go off topic.  Dodece, you are correct...once again, I know it's beginning to sound cliche but the truth is like pleasant frangrance among trash.  You delve into perspectives most have never dreamed of and it makes this community a better place.

cicil disscussion? rational thought? coming from you.

You spend all day long looking for ways to bash Sony. What rational thinking do you bring to the table, every post I read from you, a piece of me die in the inside.

Incorrect, he spent HALF of the day looking for ways to bash Sony.

He spent the other half of the day reading through a dictionary to cover up the fact he talks complete rubbish, and people STILL don't listen to him.

Im pretty sure they does anticipate, they probably just dont have the means to do everything at once. Maybe they should shut down all unupdated server until they are though. In any case, its sad to see the share dropping, Sony is extremely devoted to gaming.

Hey man leave the pizza dude alone, he just lacks a sense of humour. Can't find that in the dictionary unfortunately.

Just to clarify. phishing is not a hack. It's like fishing, the scammer weasel the info out of the user.

So, let's say, you give me your login because I tricked you into giving to me. Then I login to your account and do malicious things. That isn't hacking.

But by saying Sony have bad security equates to supporting the hackers as some here say.

That makes you a bad person.

3:(

Hmmm, I was against the whole bill with government control over the internet fully, but the more I read...sadly I am leaning towards the other direction. These aren't hackers, they are crackers and should be brought down hard. I'd say punishments of about 10-15 year imprisonments in the US sound about right. The way things are going, the crackers are truly pushing for harsh regulations on the internet.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

These people are pathetic and should feel ashamed that they are causing so much hassle to the public pointlessly just to prove a point that Sony should not have gone up against GeHotz but then again he took the piss so he got burned!!

The sooner these geeks are caught and put in jail the better!
