I think the large userbase also plays a big part of it.

Nintendo is now making their games more streamed line releases instead of the major releases all near each other Nintendo will keep this up till they get major third party support. Or just keep it this way bc a decent game in July sells better than a good game in Nov.

Forced bundles doesn't explain why the EB I worked at nearly sold out of Wii games twice over the holidays. Forced bundles probably only account for less than 10% of over all sales.

 I have to smile everytime someone says something like this.  I find it humorous that people would think that  videogames are anything but toys.

Diomedes: then why is it that Wii sales are the most stable when looked at annually? The other two holiday spikes are much higher, relatively.

Isnt the correct term first, second,etc year games?
what is this 1st gen, 2nd gen stuff. Thats not used to describe video games.

 yep that explains the sales for it all year round aswell huh?

 Yep. You pretty much figured out my reasoning there. Wii Music and Wii Motorsports (Pilotwings) were supposed to be ready to go around now also. It's a very virtuous cycle now where Nintendo can afford to push games back and improve on them (hopefully) instead of having to feed the software cycle by itself.

diomedes, you starting to act like leoj! your comments lately are really fanboyish imo! (why do people always hate it when a console succeeds? but when it fails, they have a second christmas??? i know all 3 will be successful. just face the fact that now nintendo is making a comeback that it deserves just like microsoft is making the comeback it also deserves after all the lost dough out their wallets!!) all consoles will do gr8!!



Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

 

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

Yes, 360 has been outselling Wii in software before October as well, but considering the big difference in userbase it only made sense.
