This seems to be what many people want this topic to be, and I don't think it's too much to ask for a more objective discussion to emerge from a topic that began from a quote by a market analyst.

Fair enough, but if you want an objective discussion then I doubt there would be a need for a discussion. Nintendo would win with no argument or critical thinking needed.

I don't consider people's personal opinions to be discussion either since one can't discuss amongst eachother, just throw down their opinion and leave. At least thinking of this critically, we can discuss where we see Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft headed in terms of IP creation. Maybe someone feels Nintendo's recent direction will result in stagnation of their IPs and reduction in sales. Maybe someone thinks Sony has a bright future and their IPs will grow going into the next generation because Sony is committed to them. Maybe Microsoft will finally start funding games and keeping the IPs instead of letting them get away. I think I have singlehandedly pointed out multiple things that could be discussed from an objective position that would be far more enticing a read than a plethora of fans coming in stating which of the three is their favorite of the bunch. Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer a good discussion about the market and the direction each company is taking in regards to IP creation and IP stability over the same people saying for the millionth time which games they prefer. Anyone with any time on this site already likely knows which games members with thousands of posts prefer and which company they're largely affliliated with.

Nintendo is in my eyes the one that just plays with the same IPS EVERY    generation.

They'd lose a lot of sales if they didn't.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

So True, If Ms would have invested in establishing original IP's like Sony instead of b.s. timed exclusives than I would have got the nextbox instead of ps4 . Tough Luck next Gen Microsoft!

In terms of franchise strength, Microsoft dwarfs Sony, and Nintendo makes Microsoft look like a Hobbit.

Sony may be one of the biggest in the Industry, they have released more games than either Nintendo or Microsoft, but those games have none selling over 10 million, in fact Sony's highest selling title sold only 6.2 million, and all titles combined sold under 80 million on PS3.

Microsoft, on the otherhand, has two titles over 10 million, and one title (Halo Reach) which is not far behind. Microsoft also released far fewer titles than Sony and sold over 100 million games.

Nintendo easily has the strongest franchises with 7 games which have sold over 20 million, and have sold a total of over 330 million titles sold on Wii alone. The accomplishment is almost double Microsoft and Sony combined.

In terms of quality, Microsoft has Halo, Nintendo has Mario and Zelda. Sony's top franchise is Gran Turismo, which does not hold nearly the same significance to the videogaming universe as the other three I mentioned. Most people don't even know what else Sony makes besides Gran Turismo, but everyone knows Microsoft does Halo, and Nintendo does Mario and Zelda. In terms of quality, Nintendo came out on top with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 by reviewers standards, Halo also did well, but Gran Turismo disappointed.

Sony has a 5 hour press conference! Sony promised that they will announce many new and returung titles to the PS3. They may even begin talking about the PS4. I also have a strong feeling they will announce GT6 more info on Starhawk, Uncharted 3, Rachet and Clank. Possibly Agent even gets a release date this year around Q3 and Q4. Sony will win

I'm pretty sure the 5hr conference talk was debunked. Also, I can't see GT6 announced so soon, but rather some GT5 DLC.

Starhawk, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Ratchet & Clank, & Twisted Metal will all be there (as well as a new IP or two here or there/ or a new sequel announcement of sorts). 3D will be shown all over the place, as well as the NGP. I expect it to be a content filled conference, but within a 2hr range (as they've said recently). I'd also love for some new The Last Guardian info, but I'm betting that's saved for TGS '11. David Cage may show something (Fiv5), but then again, it would probably be at Gamescom in August instead.

Finally, with R* claiming to be a no-show, I don't believe we'll hear much on AGENT.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you were right here. And if so, it just wouldn't make sense to me. Fumito Ueda stated he really wanted to appeal more to the Western/American audience with TLG, and even gave it it's name with the Western audience in mind. So, why would they skip E3 and do TGS instead?

I strongly disagree with you. Yes maybe this gen Nintendo made Microsoft and Sony look like hobbits but only because of one reason, bundles. Nintendo bundles everyone of thier superhit or superflop games. Games like Wii Sports, NWSB, Mario Kart are one of the most bundled games of all time. Now lets go on to Microsoft and Sony. First of all Microsoft has only 1 title that passes over 10 million which is Halo 3. I am not going to count in Kinect adventures because it is bundled with every single Kinect and every 360 that comes with Kinect. We all know that PS3 was off to a very slow start in 2006 and 2007 wasn't much of an improvment either. Though in 2008 Sony was going good with games like MGS4, GTA 4, and GT5 prologue Q4 was owned by the 360 due to many big launches so that made the PS3 once again behind the 360. The PS3 only started getting sales after Q4 2009 due to the slim and the pricecut. So if you look at all the Sony software sales after the year 2009 Sony beats Microsoft. Games like Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, FF13, Killzone series God of War collection knocks out games like Halo Reach, Forza 3, Left 4 dead and Mass effect 2.

i think sony is leaps and bounds over both microsoft and nintendo in the ip department, sure their games might not sell as much, but most of their games arent rehashes of 10-20 year old ips either.  i feel like the games never get stale from sony, theyre alsways giving something new and thats what makes makes me like their games more than others

@dsage,

I could not agree with you more...

If you consider sale to be the only standard, I would like to give an example. If people are offered only Halo, Gears, Fable and Forza they will buy these three as they don't have any other games. But if people are offered Uncharted, MGS, God of War, LBP, Infamous, Gran Turismo, Heavy Rain, Killzone, Resistance, Motostorm, Ratchet, Socom, MAG, Demon Soul, WKC, Yakuza, Heavenly Sword they will divide in buying games and buy according to their choice, thus lessening the sale of each ips individually. So, the argument of sale=quality does not stand here.

Exactly  and that is why Resistance and motorstorm sold so much more than their  sequels, in the case of Halo and GT they became the standard bearers for their Genre and consoles so their sequels didn't drop .
