There, I said it.
My upstairs neighbors have a lot more disposable income. We're also really close friends (I was the best man for their wedding.) Anyhoo, they bought Rock Band for Thanksgiving and I've been hooked ever since. There are 6 of us, and we can almost always manage to find 4 of us who can play enough instruments to go on a world tour. Plus I'm actually a good singer, w00t. Keep those drums away from me though, lol.
But I don't want to burn $570 for this. I can't justify that. So I get on my knees and pray...we won't be fooled again! That EA makes a Wii port. Luckily there's enough evidence that I can actually argue this:
1) Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii is about to hit a million units sold. Activision was hesitant on making it for the Wii but they bit the bullet anyway. Even with the mono-only sound bug it still sold like hotcakes.
Rock Band is in a similar genre and selling to a similar market. EA is passing up on a LOT of money.
2) The Wii is certainly capable of handling this game. The PS2 version managed to keep the graphical filter effects, and it's weaker than the Wii.
Now, the PS2 port sacrificed downloadable songs, online play, character creation, and gutted World Tour (solo tour, but for 4 people...lolwut) and EA could make a quick n dirty port. But the Wii has online capabilities, and can play downloaded music off the SD card (Excite Truck could play music off the SD card) so they could keep most of its features. I will cry if they gut world tour though...
OK, there's my semi-informative fanboy rant/EA should do this idea. Would you buy Rock Band if it came out on the Wii? :raises hand:
There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
