If anything, this milestone is an indicator for 3rd parties; where the money actually is. Square Enix is the only one so far to have taken the point.
Comparing handheld sales to console sales is a bit wrong especially in Japan where minimal free & leisure time makes them much more appealing. Not saying that it's not impressive or important, just a bit irrelevant.

Better is a relative term. For example the 3DO was "better" than the SNES and Genesis.

Did you not realize the OP in the thread was originally pointing out LTD Japan sales or are you mathematically challenged? Just asking.

If they are so different, why is my DSL taking over my gaming time from PC, PS3, Wii, Gamecube, etc...
while the DS sales are impressive for sure, I still view it as separate comparison from home consoles. Since I don't view PS2/PS3/360/Wii in direct competition with the DS/PSP for sales.
Also, DS's are incredibly cheap. So much so that I am going to buy one very soon. (i'm thinking Onyx/Red)

And its so good for playing it on the train , on the bus or on an airplane right ?
DS is doing excelent ... I dont see it passing the PS2 sales in the US or Others , but even this is one amazing job :)
