There is no magical reason why one console sells better than another ... There are certain patterns which exist because the videogame market is a market filled with rational entities. One of these patters is that the system which builds a rapid early lead tends to extend this lead throughout the generation; the reason for this pattern is simple, third party publishers are rational and choose to heavily support the platform with the highest sales which (in turn) leads to higer sales for the platform because consumers are rational and choose the platform with the most games they're interested in.

hmm.. id say all these games plus quite a few I missed havbe character development.And good character development. Way better then Halo which needs the 4 books to tell the story (yes I read all of them =/).

 after the 65nm RSX is installed about 3 months after there will be another price cut followed by a few months after the cell goes 45nm.

This is all sony needs to take the U.S and take the XBOX 360 to 3rd place. PS3 should end up with 20% marketshare by the end of this week sales. Nice jump from 14% in august.

So yes ps3 is gaining ground on the xbox 360, but its not doing it like the wii.

The character development part was just my opinion. None of those stories/ characters are interesting to me but whatever. I tend to have more fun with games with characters that have more in common with big blockbuster movies, thats why games like Mass Effect and Oblivion appeal to me, but this is not a character development thread.

After the 'Amazing Success' of Lair, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted I don't think you should really be hyping Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Infamous and Home unless you desire to be disapointed (and potentially mocked in the future); these games will (probably) not sell at amazing levels and will (probably) have very little impact on the sales of the PS3.

Beyond that $299 is still too expensive ... Over 75% of sales in the previous generation happened after the console was under $199, and it is reasonable to assume that (at least) 60% of console sales in this generation will occur after the console is under $199.

Well considering that heavenly sword is about to become a million seller on the ps3, and Uncharted is nearing 600k I dont think I should be dissapointed..

Besides KZ2 has a much larger amount of hype compared to those other exclusives.

 i really hope you realzie that very few movies now a days have true character development. Seriously I think the only movies I have seen in the last month that has good character development is The Golden Compass, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. AVP2 had jack for development, Saw 4 (i know not this month) actually had some. I saw two others but they sucks. Oh, PS I Love You was pretty good, I snuck into that one.

I'll just talk about diminishing returns and say this - Diminishing returns should not be acceptable or the norm. Sorry. We should not expect something that sold 7 million units to sell less. Am I right in thinking that Halo 2 outsold Halo 1? but Halo 3 is so far the lowest selling? A Successful game should be followed by a similarly or more successful game, the same with movies. However companies get sloppy, budgets get bigger, they try to get fancier and sales go down. Do you think they invested more money in MGS 2 or MGS 3? I bet it was MGS 3, but they had less returns on it. Following the same line, unless they return to the games roots, or get back to what people really enjoyed #4 will fare even worse. Those sort of things also provoke companies into taking so-called exclusives and making them multi-platform , unless they were foolish enough to sign a contract (which I believe alot of companies got away from after the last gen).
