True once you apply VGC bias multipliers sales are pretty accurate on VGC :D

Pft, people like Nintendogamer totally expected the Wii to be undertracked by like 1 Million.

I'm not really sure what happened exactly but if you look at Nintendo's figures they overshipped massively for Wii / 3DS at some point to the Americas...but not to EMEAA. They only shipped 110,000 3DS systems in the three months to June 2011 (against USA sales alone of 300k, probably near 400k for the whole region) which makes no sense unless they overshipped massively for March.

I'm too tired to do it now but I have the regional splits in the article for anyone who wants to see where VGC might be off (havent read this thread to know if we are or not just yet)

Last note:

July 2010 - July 2011 Shipments:

Wii: 13.6m

X360 & PS3: 13.7m

Amazingly close.

Yay! Wii has a negative supply!

Take it down 200k, VGC.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

About 150k for PS3.

About 800k for Wii. A lot of this should have happened earlier in the Year.

What the numbers like for handhelds?

so what dya think?

I think

360 spot on

PS3 150 to 200k overtracked

Wii 750 to 850k overtracked

Sounds about right.

Funnily enough, the Wii had a price cut this year, but is still in dead last place (home consoles) once adjustments are being made. That's what happens when you provide an obviously false solution to a problem.

Solution was good but price cut was not strong enough. Whoever wanted to pay $150 for Wii either saved some more and bought it for $200 or long forgotten about it. They should have moved it to 100$ to open whole new markets (together with cheap Nintendo ever green games)

i still think PS3 wasn't overtracked,it's 360 undertracked

Wii has somehow magically sold more than it has shipped.

PS3 in quite short supply. It could be slightly overtracked, or it could just be that they're deplenishing the stock before a pricecut comes, I guess.

why would you reduce supply before a price cut?

you would increase supply before a price cut surely.

I was thinking maybe they were to introduce a new model or new components, which they would start shipping now. But yeah, the most likely explanation overtracked a bit.

Think I'll just drop this here -

Updating this thread now we have the new set of Financials.

Wii Worldwide -
87,643,812 units sold as of end of June
87,570,000 shipped at the end of June
Hugely overtracked again. Something seriously wrong with the tracking here, honestly.

Wii Americas -
42,100,209 units sold as of end of June
41,710,000 shipped at the end of June
Hugely overtracked here too, still. Has been obvious for like 3 Months to everyone with eyes.

DS Worldwide -
147,634,754 units sold as of end of June
147,860,000 shipped at the end of June
Overtracked once again. No where near enough units on shelves/ships. Also...

DS Americas -
55,791,770 units sold as of end of June
55,690,000 shipped at the end of June

DS has sold more than it's shipped in Americas once again here.

So you know I'm not making the numbers up... http://www.vgchartz.com/article/87380/nintendo-loses-323m-cuts-3ds-price-globally-lowers-forecasts/#comment_432733 ... They come from Nintendo.

So yeah. This is the 2nd Quarter in a row where Wii/DS have been overtracked.

Just as an addition, I'm gonna look at the 3DS. I think it's been undertracked, but who knows?

3DS Worldwide -
3,140,231 units sold as of end of June
4,320,000 shipped at the end of June

3DS EMEAA (Others) -
904,883 units sold as of end of June
1,630,000 shipped at the end of June

EMEAA looks fairly hugely undertracked to me, especially considering that they shipped an extra 300,000 3DS systems there over the last 3 Months.

Okay. Last bump again, with updated figures. Wii/DS once again overtracked here. I seriously think 3DS is under.

Just looking at figures too, PSP looks fairly hugely undertracked.

WW Shipments - 71,300,000
WW VGC Sales - 68,619,411

As another addition, PS3 also looks overtracked ~150k, although this one's less obvious, and might not be touched.

Now. What will the big adjustments do to the sales for 2011? Currently for our figures, end of June stood at something like this -

2011 WORLDWIDE HARDWARE SALES -

ConsoleYearly (change)Total
PS3 4,959,192 (-66%) 51,312,378
Wii 4,459,747 (-75%) 87,643,854
DS 4,388,533 (-79%) 147,561,724
X360 4,195,923 (-69%) 54,584,564
PSP 3,139,460 (-66%) 68,592,995
3DS 3,139,255 (-) 3,139,255
PS2 1,201,044 (-74%) 143,143,044
Total25,483,154(-69%)

Taking ~800k from Wii would put it at ~3.65 Million units for the Year. Below the 360, and over 1 Million units behind PS3.

The DS needs adjusting down around 350k, so that would put the DS at ~4 Million for the Year

PS3, if ioi and the team think it needs doing, will be adjusted around 150k. Would put the figures at ~4.8 Million, still 1st place for the Year.

Both PSP and 3DS look undertracked, so it's hard to say what would happen with that "battle".

PS2 is consitantly undertracked, nothing will be done about it for a long, long time. I mean, it shipped more (1.4M) in the June Quarter alone than VGC have it selling for the entire Year.
