Sorry to bore with a newbie question.

I recently purchased a SONY PS3 and all is good apart from my controller.

Im obviously playing a fair but on the console, prob 4 hours a day, but my controller barely holds a full charge for more than a few days.

I would estimate its going from fully charged to flat as a pancake in 7 hours.

Im sure that must be wrong. My 360 controller would last me 30 hours plus per battery pack.

Do I have a dud ?

7 hours does seem short, seeing as mine lets me play for at least 3 hours after i start getting batterly low messages.

I'll give SONY a call and see what they say.

Is your battery savings feature for your controller on?  Just wondering as im not sure how often your controller stays on when your not gaming.

SONY helpline totally useless.

ME: Charge only holds for 7 hours

SONY : Yeah its not great. Buy a longer USB cable and play with it plugged in. (They honestly said this)

With Customer service like that its a wonder they still have customers.

Store I bought from have agreed its a Dud and I should get at least 20 hours from a full charge.

that's plain crap customer service.

i've never had such rubbish in the uk, fortunately. 

I love thier customer service, they patched up my ps3 no problem once. Either way, you should get the power saving feature on. 

If you are trying to get something from Sony on this then you can do what I do.  Call back and talk to someone else.  You will eventually find someone that actually cares about the customer.  At least I usually do. 

you can set your ps3 to turn off after an hour of not being used and plug your controller in everytime youre finished playing, it'll charge your controller full then turn itself off, you'll be ready to go everytime!

i would guesstimate that my controller lasts for about 20 hours, maybe different types of games can cause different discharging rates though, are you playing something that uses gyroscopes and vibration a lot? might make significant changes in how long your charge holds, though i dont know how much energy either takes so maybe not :P lol (if youre not using them theyre probably turned off and arent affecting anything)

I got a controller from 2007 and it still lasts for 2 days. You prolly were unlucky with your pad. Make sure you fully charge it tho. You also might consider getting a 2nd one just to have a back up. I tend to charge my pads rom pc when am not playing.
