That's not fair to Carl, because he is a man of honor. The treshold for him to win the bet will be 800k, because that's what he originally said.

Alternatively, there's no "nothing happens" option. With 500k being exactly in the middle of your two predictions, the winner will be decided by whether it's over or under this number.


I can accept this alternative bet terms.

There is an alternative bet term that the people think it's fairer.

Yes. A 3 Year old port of a PC game even managed to break 130k on the Xbox 360 in Japan. A ~1 Year port of the best selling 3rd party game ever in Japan will breeze past 200k.

I agree, but this is different.

All of those gams had a reason to sell better with the port, either due to new content or a better game. MH PS3 is a simple, lazy port, which, I believe won't even have the same online structure as Tri, and it's a lot later. And home consoles are well down now, compared to when it was released.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but unlike those other ports, the odds are stacked against it.

For sure, but you cannot discount anything called Monster Hunter in Japan :)

Monster Hunter is a bigger franchise than FF in Japan and there has never been a MH game on the PS3 before. 

Is it? I mean, sure, it is, but you can say the same about Pokemon. Does that mean that Pikachu's Pokepark's gonna top 2m on any console? I doubt it. MH has shown a pretty clear trend in terms of doing significantly worse on home consoles than portables and the PS3 has shown a pretty clear trend of having no huge. These trends can be defied, of course, but there's no real reason to believe that they will be.

So do you really think MH PS3 will sell more than all PS3 games but one? Home console MH (and in a generation as handheld-oriented as this one) is not comparable to handheld MH at all, in my opinion.
