Hey, got a bit of news from the net concerning sales numbers of Witcher 2.

CD Projekt has given out a statement that the preorders for the game have reached a total of 150,000 copies WW as of 18nth of May. While this isn't a really WOW! type figure, it has exceeded the companies projections by 50%.

I must say that i'm happy to hear this information as it's only preorder. A friend working in Empik, a Polish multimedia mega chain store, said that his store received 5000 copies for the launch and by the end of the day they had only 10 copies left. Hopefully he wasn't lying :P

So what do you think the sales will be for the 1st week? I'll go with a high end prediction of 400,000 - 450,000 copies.

Interesting news. I am actually about to buy my copy, this game was actually worth the $50, which actually surprised me.

Including Steam and GOG?

Steam verison has lost it number 1 seller spot to Terraria but still say that number 1 spot on steam is 20,000 appox sales (could be more) an day, i say sales on steam around 60,000 excluding pre purchase. 

could a polish speaker (if there are any on the site) clarify if that is customer preorders or how many copies were ordered for launch?

Also I noticed that the first game managed to climb to number 20 on the steam top sellers despite being 15$ cheaper on GoG

Customer preorders, definitely. The amount of copies ordered for launch is still unknown.

It costs 50$ for you guys? Ouch.

In Poland you get the premium edition for 30$ and the collectors edition for 53$.

Basically Witcher 2 has set a new Polish record for game launches selling 56,000 copies in 3 days since launch. When comparing these sales against Witcher 1 then we see that the Witcher 2 is selling 60% more copies in the same time frame as its predecessor. Additionaly Witcher 1 sold 35,000 units when it's 3 day launch period was from Friday to Sunday, a period when most sales are usually made in Poland. So we can expect a further rise in sales for Witcher 2 as the weekend looms closer.

On a related note, the president of Optimus, mother company of CD Projekt has gone on record saying that he is receiving positive signals concerning Witcher 2 sales from foreign markets.

Well, folks these numbers together with the preorders gives us a 200k figure for the first 3 days.  Hopefully the game will go on to the 400-500K area with foreign  sales.

I'll keep a watch on any solid numbers in the Polish news and update when i can.
