Gears of War to break records?

Will beat reach 29 39.73%

Will beat COD 7 9.59%

None of the above. 36 49.32%

Total:72

WIth 7 weeks left until launch and 1,310,881  Pre-ordered, do you think that Gears of War 3 can out do Halo Reach or maybe even COD Black OPS(Xbox 360)?

To do this they will need to beat Halo reach's 1,992,079 million pre-orders in Americas. To beat Halo Reach's week one sales they will need to beat 4,049,971 units worldwide.

COD Black Ops pre-orders where 1,825,070 (Xbox 360) million in Americas and 5,841,414 (Xbox 360 worldwide) units first week sales. I'm sure we can all agree that it won't beat combined system sales.

If Gears of War 3 can push more units week one, halo well have finally been decrowned for biggest week one sales ever for a exclusive.

So do you think Gears of War 3 can beat Pre-orders of either title or even beat week one sales???

Black Ops? No chance.

Reach, it has a shot.

Yes gears 3 has 650k pre-orders right now but it had a beta which was almost entirely accessed by pre-ordering the game. Probably would only be at 60-150k if it wasnt for that. If reach'es beta was accesed by pre-ordering the game instead of having odst it would have been over 1 million at this point. So no gears wont outsell reach or BO fw or LT.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

If Gears keeps up the same pre-orders until launch. Week one will have 1,769,019 pre-orders and thats at a rate of 59,730 pre-ordered a week. I think that it can easily pass Halo reach pre-orders.With weeks before launch having big numbers, I see no reason why we couldn't put up 2,000,000 pre-ordered in americas. Now passing week one sales is going to be hard but can be done. This is all up to other areas and how well gears attracts them and non pre-order buyers.

5 weeks back, it was over 320,000 pre-ordered and that was before the beta started for none Bulletstorm users. Bulletstorm would also have to play a role in people not pre-ordering or if they liked it, pre-ordering gears 3.  The 5th of march, which is 10 weeks back the game was already at 171,000 pre-ordered. So your 60-150k is off by 10 weeks atleast.

I do. Gears 2 sold 1.3 million fw in americas and you expect gears 3 to have 2 million pre-orders with what 3 million fw in america's. Anyone expecting that to happen is in for a shock. It will more likely do about 1.2 million pre-orders with around 2 million fw in americas.

I agree that it won't beat first week sales of Black Ops but I'm also feeling pretty optimistic about reach.

You could be right but I think that gears 3 has got a really good multi-player and people who played it are raving about it. So with that and the fact that there is also no games announced for that time period. Also that it is the last game in the series, so they say, adds up to smashing gears 2 sales/pre-orders. There are a lot more Xbox 360 owners to enjoy the series to push on the numbers. All the casuals might want to step it up.

If pre-orders keep up it has a chance of beating Reach first week sales.

Long run? I still think Reach and Halo 3 will sell more copies. The gears series is very strong in terms of sales, but I would be amazed to see it outsell a Halo title in the long run.

It's just that simple.

okay your right. the game was at 171k when it was anounced  that you could get into the beta by preordering. Taking into account the games delay which probably resulted in 50k extra pre-orders. Then the game would probably only be at 200k right now if it was always scheduled for a fall 11 release and never had the pre-order to get into beta thing.

Reach was kept under wraps until like 6 months from its release(excluding a teaser and a cinamatic trailer). Gears 3 has been shown since last years e3. People have been pre-ordering the game since then. Now though the whole game has basically been shown off and since the beta is now over pre-order numbers will start to drop considerably. ITs numbers will probably drop to less than 30k a week in a few weeks and since epic probably has no unseen content to show its numbers will stay low al the way untill 3 or 4 weeks before launch. I expect it will only get  1 million-1.2 million pre-orders(which i think is amazing since gears 2 did 1.3 million FW here) and will sell ~2.7 million fw WW.
