Now, can someone give me a short summary of what I have to with this whole password thing? I haven't been keeping up. Do I just go on PSN and change my password on the service?

log into psn as you normally would and it will prompt you to change your password, after you finish it signs you in

The playstation store is still down but I was able to get a new password on my ps3, and put my code in for portal 2. To use the code in portal 2 you use the code that came with the game in game. Not in the playstation store.

Note: Galaki, you should probably edit your post, I've seen people banned for much less and I think fanboy is a bannable word. Just lookin out for ya.

Fanboy is a bannable word now?

What do you supposed to use then? Super Obsessive Offensive Sony Follower?

It happens a lot to sites with high traffic.... that don't know the high traffic is coming.

Point proven.

I think all you've proven is your penchant for trolling.

Here is a tip... when the only attempt at a defense you can mount is an ad hominem attack...

You don't have a defense.

I changed my PW perfectly fine. You can log in with your old info and it will propt you to change your PW to a new Password. If you are sitting around waiting for an email to reach your inbox, than you my friend are an idiot. Truly a stupid human being.

Except that doesn't work if you aren't using the same PS3 you signed up for... as has been mentioned in this thread.

You may want to revisit your last sentence and who that may apply to.

Sucks I know but it was perhaps to be expected that sheer weight of numbers would be an issue.  I got back on no problem then half an hour later PSN disappeared for an hour sith no warning... and since then it's been back.

Reminds me of when Half Life 2 launched and Steam just couldn't handle the sheer weight of numbers.

It'll settle down as more and more people change their password and volume settles back down.

My main gripe is it would have been so easy - and obvious - for Sony to advise about potentially slow service initial due to demand or the potential for delays receiving emails.

Always warn and apologise in advance and customers will be more understanding I find.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

mine worked fine... well i had to do the update before psn in australian went online but as soon as it was online password change was seamless... psn store is still down though

It is astounding how fast the ignorant masses of these boards rise up and start bitching the moment one of the most impartial and level-headed posters voices a perfectly valid criticism.

I also find it highly amusing and entertaining.

and who is this impartial and level-headed poster you speak of?

Took me about 7 seconds to update my password.

me too, i tried logging in, i told me i had to change my password so i typed 123abc (because the far superior abc123 was my old password) and that was that

Did you just give your PSN account password to the world? 0_o

People already had it through the hack :D

The entire debacle shows something despicable, IMO.

Namely, the Sony fanboys yelling at their fellow PS3 owners.

It's not only Sony fans.  Every console has followers that want 100% loyalty from their owners.  I've been declared a Nintendo hater because I had some criticisms on Nintendo's strategy back in 2008.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
