First of all chillout and take a deep breath. You sound like your about to have an aneurysm.

Secondly its a news article not a scientific paper, he's not going to go into detail. Read the article again, the guy is the chief officer of an internet security firm and what he is talking about is common sense security that any big corporation should have. I think the chief officer at an internet security firm knows more about security than some guy typing in all caps on a forum cause he got his feelings hurt.

first off less than 90% of my post is in caps and seondly exactly my point, I heard the same damn thing from fucking security experts for 3 freaking weeks. so I'll say it AGAIN!!!!!! and here we go with this bullshit AGAIN!!!

The difference being this guy physically showed one of the security deficiencies instead of just talking about it.

I don't really care though. You're clearly the kind of person that can't assimilate information that runs contrary to ingrained beliefs and finds the only reasonable course of action is to yell and hurl childish insults. As such I won't be wasting anymore time in responding to your posts.

Just some general advice for the future though. If you've read hundreds of similar articles and have been reacting in such an immature manner to every one then maybe you should stop reading threads that clearly contain the exact information that seems to get you riled up every time. You know just a little tip that could help bring a little more calm to your every day life.

"did not attempt to break in to password-protected sites or exploit any vulnerabilities"

Ah, ok: that explains it all.

Bumgarner concluded to Reuters that "no one should be able to point a web browser at Sony and see a security management console[...]"

Uhm, I'm smelling the odour of a MS bot: only MS servers have a "security management console" (it's a part of MS Forefront Protection), but Sony use Apache servers. It's like someone saying that the start menu of the MACOSX is bad...

Wow, if that is true, then your post will defintely get ignored by quite a few on here.

A lot of things are called console.

I.E. a linux command prompt could be called console.

The fact is that Security Management Console is a specific part of a MS product, it could be like calling an off-road vehicle a Jeep, or saying  Hoover instead of  vacuum cleaner, or Internet Explorer instead of web browser. Internet and explorer are two common words, but their combination is ambiguous.

Edit: however it's the IGN article to be a piece of crap, the original Reuters article is much more balanced and reasonable: "Reuters has concluded that", it says, but nowhere Reuters concluded something, they just reported what that guy had to say. Bad sensationalism.

to the first part, point that shit out and this thread is completely fucking pointless bullshit.

second part,I know YOU don't fucking care and that's the damn problem

and the last part, would be easier if I didn't have to deal with people like you, posting the same bullshit all the damn time

and what's with the super small text??

Uh....

You sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist.

http://apacheconsole.sourceforge.net/

He refered to the Apache management console, as the security managment consolee... maybe because it was the management console for security?

It's called an adjetive.

Aside from which, ever hear someone call a Copy machine a Xerox machine?  They Xerox fanboys?

People calling tissues Kleenex.

People calling soda Coke.

You are branding him a microsoft fanboy, because he called the Apache Management Console that manages Security... the Security Management Console?

I mean, seriously?  That's what it is.

Its becoming obvious enough there was security issue within Sony's network. With that said, this forum isnt call "Sony hating discussion" its "Sony gaming discussion". This actually isnt even talking about the PSN: "Sony's overall Internet security is lacking far beyond the confines of the PlayStation Network, Qriocity music service and Sony Online Entertainment servers. "

No.  It's Sony discussion.

Gaming discussion is a completely different forum.

what? real news?

yeah real fucking news *rolls eyes*

Maybe you should quit rolling your eyes around and shove them back into your head and actually read the article.  You may find it surprising that Reuters are not Sony trolls.

"many of which Sony has since fixed"

you all should have STOPPED reading there, this guy is just reiterating what the fuck we and Sony already fucking know and have been fixing for the past 3 damn weeks or did you cleverly skip that part......

Dang, got banned before I could reply :(

It's funny... you think he would of noticed the "after he told Sony about it" part.

I mean, seriously?  That's what it is.

Do better research next time:

  • "Apache Management Console" != "Security Management Console".
  • APM is a side-project, dead since 2003.
  • APM was never completed.
  • APM was intended to be a replacment for the Microsoft  Management Console, a configuration tool for the IIS (hence the name similarity).
  • APM was never meant for security, but just for general configuration.
  • The console interface of the Apache server is called Apache Server Control Interface (no console).

Besides that I already pointed out that if someone say Internet Explorer instead of web browser, he may be biased or have got a partial training on the subject.

Not to say that the IGN article is sensationalist and badly worded.

Aren't all of their articles like that?

What do you expect from IGN xD.

That's pretty shocking. I can't believe a Multi National Corporation could make such school boy errors but then again I shouldn't be too surprised if we hold Murphy's Law to be true.

Also want to point out this is a Reuters article, not IGN.
