Forums - Sony Discussion - New ps3 models coming out? At 200$?

wait for E3 for sony annoucment on ps3 $200 console with 160gb and thats probally a called signal for a ps4 console announcement while nintendo will continue leak more info on thier stream console will based on the Northern Islands GPu family  since nintendo never used DirectX at all only opengl this probably will make microsoft a difficuilt position to choose a gpu for 720 while sony is praising for nintendo for realeasing a monster console so sony could used the high end Nvidia Kepler or Maxwell GPu, so my bet is that microsoft wants more audience for kinect strategy so it will copy the wii again with games for 720 or other name since 720 or 1080 sounds very stupid to called a console 720 or 1080. So my question is this the next next gen with Nintendo and sony while microsoft will based on the last gen with kinect built in the console or maybee they will probably release it late as ps3 for the next os or wait for a long time as wii2 anouncment for super gpu strategy, but the bottom line is its not 4770 on stream but its on the northern islands family thats the only info i got.

for comparison here is the psp versions of the 1000, 2000 and 3000

Upgrade to 2000: It was slimmer and lighter (hence the name PSP slim), and it had some much needed extra functions like USB charging, TV out for videos and games, faster loading times

Upgrade to 3000: It's exactly the same size and dimensions. But on a closer look you notice the subtle changes—

  • The Home button is now the PlayStation button with the classic PlayStation logo.
  • There's a mic placed right next to the volume control for the new Skype function in the PSP 3000.
  • The D-pad is a lot better this time around, which I suspect would make playing fighting games a lot easier than its predecessors.
  • It can now output games via Composite cable as well, unlike the PSP 2000, which requires a component cable to output games.

But you notice the biggest change from the previous PSP's only after you turn it on — It's spanking new screen.

No USB? How the hell am I suppose to connect my PS Eye for Move??

But yeah, they must remove something as you said to get the price down $100.

This is going away from the topic but the PS3 is 5yr old tech, it should cost $200 anyway..or it would if it was a PC..but it isn't I suppose.
I don't know why console depreciation is so much slower than a PC's when basically there are the same thing, plastic and chips apart from there isn't a newer console every month...maybe that's it.

Well, I guess that's out of the question then. I didn't know it used the USB. I was figuring that they'd remove it because you can charge them on a computer, but I guess there's other scenarios that I haven't thought of.

@marcus

Well, they said that the slim isn't really the slim, but really just a lighter version. I mean, looking at the ps2, or the PSOne, the size are blatantly different than their predescesors. They might go the same route and go with TGS, and for this year at e3 just talk about the NGP.

Huh.  Based on that I have a 3000 do to having the different home button.  Always thought it was a 2K.  Can't notice much difference on look though ha.
