Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 Trades increased by 200% since PSN crash

man people are stupid, your gonna waste time and money and time on trading in a system to get a 360 where you have to pay to play just cause you cant play COD for a little bit, oh well cheaper games for me

what i want to know is hard numbers. 200% increase sounds huge but if actual numbersare are  like 10 a week then a 200% increase would be like 30? thats a good way to make things look worse even if it barely even matters.

Trade in prices at Amazon are way down as well. It used to be $200 but it's down to $143.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

You do realized that at least 50% of all PS3 players would be labeled as "casual" by the people on these forums don't you? The fact is that most players on both the PS3 and 360 only purchase 2 - 3 games a year and most of the time its vary large mainstream titles like Madden and Call of Duty. The actual gaming landscape is FAR different than what you see on these boards that's why I can't help but laugh at how rediculous "core" gamers are sometimes in terms of discussing gameing trends.

Look at games like Killzone that get massive internet hype and in comparision to install base sell very low numbers. Why is that? Its because the majority of consumers aren't "core" players they are casuals. They don't get on the internet looking at reviews and trailers on all the "core" games coming out. They want big franchises they are familiar with and their friends play.

More gamers need to actually get a correct perspective on sales and work in retail, because trust me it will shock you how mainstream and casual ALL console demographics are, not just the Wii.

And yes PS3 sales are in the toilet at Gamestop right now, why do you think we are offering $100 off brand new systems to our PowerUp Rewards members? Here's a hint, because they aren't exactly flying off the shelves.

And the worst for Sony is that they can't really shake this bad image. Like the xbox (rrod) and wii (mom's console) once it's set like that in the mind of the mainstream, erasing it is near impossible. Even if Sony pushes a big PR campaign - which they will have to do - this won't go away.

People are herd animals and once the herd is moving in one direction it's hell getting them to go the other way.

This thing could even force a pricecut on the PS3.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Looking at the articles on this site 90% of them seem to be focused on making things worse, like that ps3 games losing their resale value they are still on average more valuable then 360 games, so the title could have been ps3 game still more valuable despite psn outtage instead of ps3 games losing their value 360 ones gaining more

It seems the PS3 has lost the shooters, thank God.

@psrock

I think the PS3 has lost more than just the shooters that is the problem... But you are right joshing aside it is not suprising that some of the more hard core who are playing multi console games such as the call of duty series would be happy to jump ship, this is a form of addiction for them. I bet PC sales have recorded a small blip upwards as well.

@Stefan

I have to agree this has done long term damage. I am not sure how much money they can pour on the fire to put it out. Price cut, huge PR campaign and sweetners this could cost them big and that is not withstanding any other forms of monetary lose they may incurr.

no I did not know that...

and like I said in the other thread, if the ps3 continues to outsell the 360 and wii these next coming weeks I'm going to laugh my fucking ass off.

boy for the sake of my bladder, I hope you guys are right, I really do

I mean sales are in the toilet at gamestop.....oh boy

The fact that is only a member-exclusive offer means that the supply is very limited.
