Forums - Gaming Discussion - RE: Umbrella Chronicles Hands-on

Think House of the Dead, in my opinion better.

Just saw the gameplay video.  Looks challenging.

Great. I read the preview, and can't wait to play it.

I read RE4 Wii too, and they said the controller is much improved. If this RE4 port is succes (both critics and sales), I bet they bring RE5 to Wii too. I don't mind playing RE5 in 480p, as long as they can make the control better than PS3/X360 version.

I think Umbrella Chronicles being a success is more important to bringing the next RE (RE5) to the Wii.  I don't know if RE4 went to GC because it had the best graphics or if they just like Nintendo, my guess is the latter.  Umbrella Chronicles looks very fun, and I'm looking forward to playing RE4 on Wii too.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'm more interested in RE4 Wii than RE: UC -- I'll take a deep action action game over a shallow shooter most days of the week.  But I will admit that the shooting levels in Rayman were one of my favorite parts of the game.  (That and cow tossing. )  And the Wimote worked great in those levels.  Hopefully Capcom does make this a two player game.  It's more fun to shoot with a friend.

If RE: UC does well, we'll hopefully see some other quality titles make it over.  Point Blank would be perfect fit for the Wii's demographics.  (I'd pick it up for those other days of the week. He, he, he...)

House of the Dead 4. It would be a perfect port for Wii.  Because in arcade version, to reload the weapon, you must shake the gun.

"The game is running in 480p and 16:9 widescreen at a fluidity of 30 frames per second."   What is it about the Wii and running only at 30fps?  (note:  this comment is directed at shams, heh).

Anyway, I look forward to the story elements of this game.  I guess I'm a freak because I like the story of resident evil?  Also, returning to the mansion will be a lot of fun because that and 2 are where the story was at it's best imo. Will be refreshing to finish the game in 1 day (they said 15 to 20 hours right ;)

This game looks nice but I still don't think RE5 will be on the Wii.  It would most likely have to be completely redone.

Well nobody knows how far RE5 actually is...I don't think it's impossible to have a Wii version, and a good version wouldn't be hard.  I mean...they announced this game waaay before E3 last year when the Wii got very popular.  Capcom has no problems with Nintendo, they made RE4, the Wii remake and UC, along with a Zelda game even...  It's just a matter of them wanting to make a Wii version of RE5.

Personally, I'm guessing they won't, just because of the work they'd have to do to be able to run it on the Wii...but I don't think it's impossible.  I mean...the game was announced and had a teaser trailer before the 360 even launched...after seeing the success of the Wii, maybe they'll consider making a port to it.  But whatever.

Also, quite a few PS3 games only run at 30 fps as well...it's basically the standard for consoles, like it or not.  I guess they choose better effects and overall graphics instead of 60 fps, and I can understand that.  Particles and AA and all that stuff generally comes first, as long it never gets below 30.

Why? They did it with RE4 for PS2 before, and they downgraded the graphic too. They will do it again if it can make money. GC has the most completed RE series (RE0 to RE4). Now Wii is backward compatible, and it is the most popular console right now. People can play the whole series (RE0 - RE5) on one console. Was that the reason why Mikami make RE4 for GC? And some people prefer solid control to prettier graphic (Godfaher). There's really no reason Capcom won't do it. I bet they'll announce RE5 for Wii, sooner or later. Keep my finger crossed.

Yeah, I know.  I made that comment because shams made the exact same comment about the PS3 and Lair running at 30fps.  "What is it with the PS3 and 30fps" or something like that.  I never pay attention to fps in games because as long as it's fun to play it doesn't matter.  Both this game and Lair look good (respective to their consoles) and I look forward to playin them both.
