Im actually more of an el cheapo kind of guy and buy a lot of games used to save money :). 90% of my purchases are either used games or games that have gone way down in price. However there are some games that I have bought on day one. Here they are:
Xbox 360:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: I would say yes it was worth the day one purchase. I enjoy online shooters and I think overall this was a lot of fun even with some glitching here and there by the community.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: I loved the first installment of this franchise and so I got this one day one. Overall I dont think it is worthy of a day one purchase. There were some changes from the first one and for some reason the camera angle at times just annoyed me. Im a big comic fan and so overall this was a great game for me with a good story line. Just not worthy of day one purchase due to some game mechanics and me rarely buying games day one.
Halo Reach: overall I think this is a great game and makes some good improvements from Halo 3. Im still debating if this was worth day one purchase though. when I got it day one my friends and I played the crap out of it and enjoyed online matches very much. I beat the game and did a good amount of online play, however its sad to say I have not touched this game since early November of 2010. Yikes! There has just been so many other games I have gotten into, and the Call of Duty franchise definitley is a thorn in this games side by taking a big portion of the shooter fans.
Kinect Adventures: this game came with Kinect so not sure its really even worthy of a day one purchase. I may have still gotten it day one just because it looked like a fun launch title. However, I dont think its that amazing of a game. It more demos kinect that anything. So not day one purchase worthy.
Kinect Sports: in the realm of Kinect I love this game. I think it very well may be the best kinect game currently available. I think overall it was worth day one purchase. It shows good capabilities of the Kinect
Your Shape Fitness Evolved: This game has put a fire in my glutes from day one! If you stick to this game each day you will see some big differences in health. Overall good game for couples, or even singles to get in shape. Day one purchase IMO, probably if you are looking to get in better shape.
Call of Duty Black Ops: I really love this game. I must say I have been a huge zombie mode fan since it was introduced in World at War. It may very well be my favorite part of this game. You show me a game that I can kill zombies in and I will be buying it most likely. I also think they did a great job in the campaign story mode. They also did are really good job in balancing the online multiplayer. I know there is disagreement but I personally like the online multiplayer better in this than in MW2. In MW2 there was too much of killstreak stuff going on at once with hellicopters and bombing planes going on all the time. IMO this is worthy of day one purchase. Go Zombie mode! :)
Future Likely Day One Purchases:
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim -Looks Bad @$$! Plus Im a sucker for in depth RPG type games.
Modern Warfare 3 (not confirmed yet but we know its coming).-COD has always had a compelling story mode along with solid multiplayer and fun Co-op feature. the COD games honestly pack a lot into one game even if some people out there hate the franchise.
Kinect Star Wars -whenever they decide to release it. Short clips have looked cool.
Halo game (no confirmation on what it could be or if there will be one, but I bet could be 2011 or 2012.) -Halo games are always fun and I enjoy the franchise so if they do release one Im likely to get it day one unless its something like Halo Wars 2...ehh.
Mass Effect 3.-played the first 2 and LOVED them. It would be hard for me to resist this on day one.
I may be missing some, but generally unless its a big Shooter, RPG, or Kinect title being released, I will likely wait until its cheaper.
