Starfox?  You mean that game like Lilac Wars but with an superior name?

Fixed

Lylat.

Lilac, haha.

No, it's Lilac.

StarFox won and made the gamecube pink/purple.

64 was a better package overall, it's easier than the original but that's about it. You just know 64 is casual friendly when I was able to go through it with hardest settings without being hit once.

People who liked Starfox 64 are not in the same league as those of us who liked the original. Everything in the SNES game was better. Everything. You people just don't know games. Games aren't supposed to be easy ya babies.

Star Foxz 64 has nearly all the areas from the original game.  As well as double the content, charge beam, new characters and better (infamous) dialogue.  There's no reason to remake the original game.  About the only thing I think the original did better was its design.  But even then, Star Fox 64 has it beat in full 3D graphics and better controls.  And the majority of fans agree that 64 is better.

A while ago, I read that Nintendo WAS planning a remake of Starfox!  They call it Starfox 64.

Anyhoo, I was one of those kids that had Starfox back in 1993.  I marveled at the power of the Super FX chip.  I laughed in the face of my Genesis owning neighbor.  Eventually, I grew the F up.  Nostalgia, plain and simple.  The original Starfox was "fly from point a to point b while shooting some poolygons with yourcrappy power up.  SF 64 improved EVERYTHING (except the music).  Star Wolf, Peppy analyzing the enemies, all range mode, the awesome Blue Marine and Land Master, the Independence Day inspired battle, chasing that train, multiple ways of taking down bosses, a story--what did Starfox offer?  A fight inside a space-washing machine?  Flat environments?

No, SF 64 is the right choice.

I'm TruckOSaurus  and I approve this message!

Which is exactly why I want a remake of the SNES game, and not Star Fox 64.

Star Fox 64 doesn't need a graphical enchantment all that much, unlike Star Fox. Star Fox 64 already has analogue controls. Unlike Star Fox. And Star Fox 64 pretty much plays perfectly to this day, unlike (Wait for it...) Star Fox. (The original still plays solidly, though.) Hell, the original hasn't even been released on the Virtual Console, for Pete's sake. It demands a remake.

Unless you really, really, really like seeing Fox and his annoying buddies flying around right in front of your face, I don't see why anyone who already has SF64 would pick up the remake.

Everything that is (in my book) wrong with Star Fox 64 was designed on purpose, and a remake isn't going to change them at all. Everything that is wrong with the original Star Fox is due to the Super Nintendo's limitations, and a remake would definitely fix all of those issues.

(Man, this post makes it sound like I hate Star Fox 64, which couldn't farther from the case. I just really want a Star Fox remake.)

I hear what you're saying, but I doubt they'd change it the way you want.  If anything, Star Fox 64 WAS the remake of the original Star Fox.  And any future remake would just have the same graphics and controls of SF64.

To make a better analogy, I've wanted a remake of Castlevania III for years.  The game was ahead of its time, but was severly limited by the NES.  But even if they remade the game, I just know it'll end up playing like a mixture of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.  Which defeats the purpose of remaking Castlevania III, since it plays nothing like those games.

I don't mind the graphics and controls of SF64. In fact, I think I said that they're just fine as they are, and couldn't really be substantially improved on the 3DS.

It's just the Landmaster and Blue-Marine levels, and the pointless cutscenes, that I don't like. And you can bet your bacon they'll still be present in the remake. (Though they might include an option to skip the unskippable cutscenes.)

Also, reading that previous post, I just realized how much I abused the italics button.

SF64 is a sequel not a remake. It borrowed a lot of elements that was supposed to be in StarFox 2 on the NES.

In the first game you play as Fox McCloud's father.

no remakes... especially for this type of game....

I mean an FF where the story and events are what make the game, sure... but a shooter....
