and the low dollar price helps it at the moment, even though we pay more for the ps3

i may have read that wrong, but i hope you don't mean the US pay more for the ps3 $299 vs £259 ($423.88)

no I mean in switzerland, 299dollar is now less than 290.- and even though we pay 350.- for a ps3 at absolute minimum (online-shops)

Its not unhear of.  I heard some figure like 12-13% of PS3s have had non-user related problems and needed repairs.  Nowhere near the some 40-50% of XBOX360 and RROD, but still high enough to have a good chance for someone who uses the device a lot to need repairs.

Frankly, with how hot the PS3 gets, I almost expect mine to blow up someday.  And I have the 160 GB Slim model.  Then again, I still have a gen 2 PS2 and after 10 years it still works...

just work for a week and you got enough money to buy a new ps3 and all games coming out this year :D

If you hold up a bank, maybe.

The PS3 is more than other consoles, but still not thousands of dollars.  I bought a 160 GB PS3 and about 5 games for under $500.

Its all just about what you want.  I wanted a system that had all the games I wanted on the HD consoles as well as the ability to watch Blu Ray and DivX/AVS video.  And in that way, the PS3 has definitely been worth it.  Heck, in my opinion its worth it just for Assassins Creed, Batman and Bayonetta.

I plan on getting Red Dead Redemption and possibly another game later today.

Sigh, well, its been a great couple of years. *Cues sad and emotional music* Apparently, I heard a pop inside my PS3 and all of the power just left. Went online, and found out that the power supply or a fuse for it just broke. Great. Looks like I won't be gaming till Christmas! No online for a month, just bought Final Fantasy 13, and my dad is now getting LESS pay from his government job. FML.

And do you know what's hilarious? My PS2 broke right when I bought Gran Turismo 3 a-spec from the bargin bin. LOL, oh the irony.

or buy a power supply! like others suggested here in the threat!!!!

One hell of a job he would need to find. OT, I'm sorry about your PS3. It's always sad when a friend dies. You could try to befriend an X360; they don't die on you like they did before, they're cheaper and their online network won't compromise your private info.

example:When I was at school I worked in the holidays 1 week and that got me like 700-800

there you go ps3, and of curse not every game, I was refering to the games that you may be interested in.

What type of holiday jobs pay $3000 per month!?

Working in your rich uncle's garden?

Seriously, an office manager makes $15 per hour. That's $120 per day and $600 per week.

and no, it was at a lamp-fabric,  get even more for looking after retarded kids

maybe the standart here is another

yeah here in the US, your average job for retail or whatnot is $7.25/hour before taxes. So even if you worked a 10 hour day, you're making $72.50, minus about $15-20 in taxes, so $57 or so per day * 5days a week, you might be lucky to take home $285 for working a 50 hour workweek.

Damn, in retrospect, thats pretty sad.

Well, at least it's not a big deal since PSN broke too!!!

In reality though, fix it, it' can't be that hard. If you can't figure it out there are a few other options. If you have a webcam I can skyp you and try to guide you through the process. You can send it out to get repaired, you can have a friend do it, or, my personal favorite you can give it to me for keepies!!!
