Forums - Sony Discussion - OMG, my PS3 died.

Sigh, well, its been a great couple of years. *Cues sad and emotional music* Apparently, I heard a pop inside my PS3 and all of the power just left. Went online, and found out that the power supply or a fuse for it just broke. Great. Looks like I won't be gaming till Christmas! No online for a month, just bought Final Fantasy 13, and my dad is now getting LESS pay from his government job. FML.

And do you know what's hilarious? My PS2 broke right when I bought Gran Turismo 3 a-spec from the bargin bin. LOL, oh the irony.

Sad to hear this?

Might want try to repair possibly - though not sure whether it would work out.

most power supplies deaths are accompanied with a pop, but its nothing that you need a new ps3 for, you can probably just buy another power supply (looking on ebay they run from about 5-25$) and replace the one in your ps3 (i would make sure that i got a power supply from the same model ps3 that i was repairing)

if you do decide to just replace the psu, do keep in mind that opening the ps3 will void the warranty.

i just went and looked on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKmg7e7ufJM ), and found a video of someone replacing a psu, its about 5 mins long, he unscrews like 5-10 screws, and unplugs 2 things then puts it all back together

better than throwing it away i guess...

must be the auto selfdestruct system isntalled by Sony on all PS3s.

Well that's all right. You get a replacement under warranty, Unless you spilled something flammable on it.

Have you ever worked in your life? Seriously, the world doesn't work that way.

Just remember the good times, bro.  Sorry she had to die.

Maybe you'll get lucky like I did.

My 60GB died and then I bought a 160GB. Then low and behold my 60GB went all zombie on me and now it is undead and working!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
