Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will you buy the Xbox 720 on Xmas 2012 or just resist it?

i would get it only if it had some good launch games

IF this happens, I'd be buying the next Nintendo system. However, I generally don't buy at launch as I'd rather wait for better pricing. Unless there is some game I simply can't resist.

However, unless next MS system has Nintendo games, I won't be getting it. No matter what, my next game console will be a Nintendo one.

I have never trusted launch systems as reliable. So I will painfully wait at least a year until I here they have improved the hardware. Not really a bad thing as I can pick up plenty of cheap games from this gen.

Also I think it is too soon to know for sure if it is going to be announced this year, I don't care how much IGN's recent article on the idea made sense I still will not rely on rumors.

OK new policy.... Instead of 3 must own games for a console.... 1 must own game per value in front of $00.

so for a $600 launch console... I need 6 must own games... Halo4 check Gears 4 check.........error....

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I respect those of you who say that you will wait till the consoles drop in price and have more games/ better hardware.

I totally get it.

But like I have said previously, there is nothing like having the brand new system when it comes out. Buying launch games that set a tone for the generation then later only look bad in retrospect (most of the time). All of this paves the road for a dynamic generational ride of sorts.

I waited in line overnight for the 360.. so fun. Was the first of my friends to have one, everyone had to see it. ALL of the games at first were soooo far ahead of PS2 and xbox. I remember playing COD 2, Crackdown, Condemned. Then Gears of War..

I wouldnt trade those times for anything.

Getting a console at launch is by far the most exciting thing a gamer can do at any point across the timespan of an entire generation.

I have already answered the OP previously, but if conditions are right, then absolutely sign me up for launch.

I'll probably be too busy writing on the forums how angry I am about the NES 6 to get one.

Why are u angry about it? Didn't you just praise it a couple of weeks ago?

Well im not angry. However remember basicly it goes like this.

1. Nintendo announces a system with unique compelling features.

2. Hype.

3. ????

4. Somehow after launch we hardcore gamers feel disapointed.

Tease.

Initial price and launch line up weigh pretty heavily.

For a reasonable price of $400, there has to be at least one must buy title that simply can't run on current hardware and a few other lesser titles to make it worth the transition.

I'd be a bit less concerned about early QC than some. Somehow, I just can't see MS repeating the 360 launch mistake and should have already learned everything they need to know about manufacturing a decently reliable console.

So if Ms releases a 599 console tomorrow which features 4 GB of fast DDR3 RAM, some awesome gaming optimized CPU, directx11 features and dev kits which are a breeze to use, and a radeon 6990 like power GPU...hell I'll buy 2 Xbox 720s at 600 bucks.

For me to buy it, it just has to be priced accordingly to what they are offering and have substantial games at launch. But I don't think everyone feels the same way. People always cite "299" as magical pricepoint.

if they were gonna reveal it, I would resist it, just as I resisted the 360. Well... I didn't resist it, I just didn't even cared that it existed.
