Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Third-party drops 3DS support?

It's that time of the week, doom and gloom befalls the 3DS. With all the talks about Nintendo's next handheld slowing sales, bare line-up software and the hope of big third-party support. Also with Nintendo delaying their big hitter games for Q4 while giving chances for others to shine. This tactic doesn't seem to have pleased THQ. Do you remember this moment at last years E3?

3DS Saints Row announcement followed by an awkward silence (and some random giggles)

THQ has recently stated that Saints Row: Drive By has been cancelled, so it is no longer developing this XBLA and PSN spinoff. But what does this mean to the 3DS? The 3DS version could possibly be following the same fate since it was confirmed to be the same as the XBLA game, although THQ had no comments regarding the 3DS version.

Since the game has not been confirmed cancelled, it's still too early to conclude anything from this.
But if this were confirmed later on, would you think THQ is the first of many third-party drop outs?

Misleading thread title.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

That's really a bullshit article. All versions of the game have been cancelled - so we can conclude THQ will leave the videogaming business alltogether?

I can't believe videogaming journalism even exists. It's just so ridiculous. And the guy who wrote that probably thinks he's a serious journalists

The sad thing is the thread title captures the tone of the erm... "article" rather well. 50% of it is based on calling Nintendo's strategy a fail because a port of a download game has been cancelled.

Maybe the game wasn't all that good when they had to cancel all the versions (similar thing happened to EA's My Garden). So if the game was bad, it's good that they cancelled it.

A PS3 and 360 game got cancelled, so we conclude that the 3DS game of the same name is cancelled so we assume the 3DS is domed?

lol

What UncleScrooge and scottie said. It's an isolated case and not only for the 3DS, so it has nothing to do with 3rd parties dropping their support.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

that doesn't mean 3rd parties are dropping support all together. It's just one game.

I doesn't even mean the 3ds game was canned at all. The article states that when asked about the 3ds version they refused to comment but were pretty vocal about the xbla and psn version. It's probably a port of one of the older games anyway.

Paying $40 for a dowload title you could get for less than half that would be sucide for the 3ds version anyway.

I demand a thread stating that the 3rd parties are cancelling PSN and XBLA games as well
