Forums - Gaming Discussion - Child of Eden preview from Gamespot...as expected

I've been following this game like a hawk, and thought I'd post some things that stood out in the Gamespot preview. Note, this was only for the 360.

-> The visuals look fantastic, as does the sound

-> There are two control methods with kinect. The one where you use each hand for a different weopon sounds superior. Instead of pressing buttons, you will be clapping hands and making a Y as in the YMCA method.

-> Using a controller is better if you're after high scores:

''While high scores are possible, especially with the second Kinect control option, they are more challenging due to the peripheral's current limitations''

-> This will in all likelyhood not be a killer app:

''While we appreciate the inclusion of Kinect, we're very grateful that controller support is on hand as well''

-> Eden seems to be very close to what Rez was. Not a bad thing at all imo.

Ironically, the PS3 Move version will probably turn out to be the best i.t.o control and immersion. The game is just really well suited to being played with a wand, so it's a real shame the PS3 version will only arrive much later.

Wouldn't it hurt if this turns out to be exclusive to 360? I would be a very sad stoner.

I'm not really interested in either Kinect or Move for this. Seems to me to be a game where you want to sit close to the screen, not stand 8 to 10 ft back. I'll wait for the ps3 version anyway, uncompressed surround sound should suit this nicely.

3D support!? Are you sure?

That might just be a good enough reason for me to upgrade to a 3D TV

I'm still in love with my Motionflow LCD though...

I only remember a vague 'September' from somewhere. In either case, stranger things have happened.

For the people interested on getting the kinect version.

"The Kinect offers a more immersive, experiential control option that's obviously more physical, relying on motion and gestures. The control scheme for the Kinect has been expanded to offer more options for players, which is good. The first option is in line with what we've played before; you'll control your onscreen cursor with one hand, clap to switch between weapons, and make like a cheerleader by making a "Y" to trigger the screen-clearing Euphoria bomb. The second option offers more precise options, thanks to mapping each shot type to a hand. You'll use the tracer when moving the cursor with your left hand and the lock on with your right. Sadly, the Euphoria bomb is still triggered with a human "Y." While high scores are possible, especially with the second Kinect control option, they are more challenging due to the peripheral's current limitations. The game does take this into account and offers different score values for earning stars at the end of each level based on your selected input option, so you won't be penalized for your choice. The stars are key to unlocking new levels and content, so earning them will be a priority when playing. While different, we can understand the appeal and accessibility of the Kinect for people who want an alternative control option."
