Forums - Gaming Discussion - If I was Nintendo right now

I would of offered already Take Two/Rockstar 1-2 billion dollars to make Grand Theft Auto 5 there exclusive launch title, the steep money would be because that game will sell like 20+ million units. I would Pay Activison another Billion dollars for an exclusive Call of Duty title.

Basically i would been handing big Wii money out to developers to get the hottest games on PS360 there next console exclusive.

If you were an PS360 gamer and you find out that GTA5 is only coming out on Nintendo's New console would you rush out and buy it?

If Nintendo is really aiming for the "HD" experience: they are going to need games; big games because no one is going to buy this for the port box waiting for nintendo to release there new games that use the tech, and no publisher is going to spend 20-40 million developing an Sku for there new console with an install base of 5 million.

Nintendo could pull an dream cast, screen on consoler, half step upgrade from PS360.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Activision and R* would not accept because they know they would lose loyal customers who were unwilling to upgrade to Battlefield/Medal of Honor, and Saints Row. Nintendo also would probably never make money off that investment, making it a dumb move.

you wouldn't need billion dollars for it

all they need to do is

launch first

launch a good next generation system that competes with other systems

then pay a few hundred million for third parties to make games for their system

and as they are launching first, they will as it is get time exclusivity on many games

Exactly how rich is nintendo?

Even the though is too horrible to bear, my brain is melting.

Above: still the best game of the year.

GTA games have never stayed on one console, and no it would not sell 20 milion not even 5 million on a Nintendo console.

LOL. There are many things wrong with your hypothetical choices. First off trying to get Rcokstar and Activision to make an exclusive COD & GTA for Nintendo Next year will not only cost billions but nintendo would more than likely not make even half of what they paid for to get those titles exclusive on thier platform. Not only that but Rockstar and Activision would lose many of there loyal fanbase seeing as there favorite franchises that started on there platform gens before coming exclusive to nintendo.

And didnt M$ make that deal with activision to get the COD map packs first all the way thru 2012. So that would not even happen for COD anyways. Not to mention that Rockstar has a very strong relationship with Sony and there also suppose to still be making agent exclusively for them.

So yea i dont think none of those things you said would make much sense at all.    :)

Rockstar and Activision will never go exclusive. When they know they can make money everywhere anyway. All Nintendo needs to do is get those games. They don't have to be exclusive. When the playing field is even, and you can get all 3rd party games everywhere. That's when 1st party content comes into play. If I'm Nintendo that's what I want. Since we all can see Nintendo exclusives sale way better then Microsoft, and Sonys. Then the need for gamers to buy multiple systems will not be needed.

Nintendo did this with Resident Evil 4 (and 4 other Capcom titles).  In the end, 2 of them got cnacelled and two of them got ported to PS2.  Nintendo has done this multiple times and is always stabbed in the back.  The only time they've really benefited from a third party deal was the Zelda titles done by Capcom.  And to a lesser extent, F-Zero GX/Star Fox Assault.

Also, if I was Nintendo right now, I'd do exactly what they're doing.  Make a new console (and handheld) that utilizes the established marketbase while still trying to appeal to 'core' gamers.  Its essentially what they did with GameCube...except now they are in the lead to improve their chances.

When the Wii first came out, they stated their reserves were about $4.5 billion.  I'd imagine its substantially larger than that after how successful they were on the Wii and DS.
