Forums - Microsoft Discussion - (Rumor) Microsoft Unbans all Xbox360s

Deep in my mind I think this's something that MS did just to bother Sony ..... deep, deep.

Earlier this morning, on April 26th, Microsoft unbanned every single console that has ever been banned from Xbox Live. It is un certain if Microsoft has a backup of all the banned consoles but as for now, there are no signs of the consoles being rebanned. With the unbanning of all the KV's this means all your Jtags will be unbanned as well, however booting them will still result in a near instant ban!

It would be clever if Microsoft did this to inspire the people deprived of PS3 to reuse the server, however this seems more like a human error. Regardless of the situation, someone is going to be in a lot of trouble for this one!

In order to do this you are going to need to take your banned console and plug it into live, then you are going to have to manually update your dash using this file

If they did that it would send a message to developers that MS supports piracy and hackers on their system over their own intrest.

Well there's a new update the 29th, maybe they find another way to fight piracy and hackers without bans, is that or a human mistake ... amnesty???

i just go to chinese gamer forum

and they said:"damn you Microsoft banned again!!!!(around 1 hour ago)"

lol'd

orrrr maybe there is a reason they did this. I dont think Ms wants to be attacked the way that Sony is getting attacked atm. Most networks wouldnt be able to withstand this.

Some people on Gaf think that the upcoming update might disable the disk drive on the modded 360's. Microsoft tricks pirates into coming online, Microsoft sends out compulsory update, pirates can never use their 360 for pirating games, ????, profit!

The unban thing is apparently real, on the same Gaf forum, people are taking their modded 360's online and have reported they have been unbanned, though they could be lying, but people usually get called out fairly fast on Gaf if they lie.

Smart stuff from Microsoft, I have a feeling that they've done something similar before, can't remember when or what it was.

I'll also point out that only modded consoles are being unbanned, people that have been banned for other things are reporting that they have remained banned.

If this is a trick, cool, if it isn't and Microsoft are just doing it just because, then it's pretty dumb that they'd let cheaters back on to their service, which was the main reason why they started mass banning people a while ago.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

As the above post said, there has to be a really good reason for this, MS tends to have 0 tolerance for modders and pirates. They must have figured something out.

maybe hackers did it?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

most people who got theirs banned learnt their lesson probably bought a new one anyway.

by selling the banned ones (now unbanned) pre-owned to someone for cheap, microsoft can atleast make money off games and XBL rather than all those units which are collecting dust doing nothing.

thats what i think anyway...

im guessing the smiley at the end means sarcasm but if it doesnt... its doubtful because not all were unbanned
