No
for the time being, there's no reason to buy a 3DS, it really does 3D, but for now, there's nothing to play in 3D
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
So arrogant, if we don't want your product it is not because we don't "understand its greatness". It is for some other reason, which I can't say because someone would ban me instantly.

The mainstream doesn't think 3D alone is a must-see feature?
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I think one of the most important thing for the 3DS to attract more users is not just more games with retail releases and the eshop, but to get the internet browser and movie screenings working. The real problem for selling the 3DS doesn't lie with with the 3DS itself or third parties it lies with the retailers. all the retailers with a 3DS Demo station I've been to have just had either Pilotwings or Super Street fighter demos running and nothing else. neither game really has enough wow factor by itself and with the way the demo stations are set up it's impossible to use any of the built in software effectively. this is why having access to a number of 3D videos for game and movie trailers to show the full 3D media capabilities and show off the games coming out can help nintendo sell more systems.

That's Nintendo's fault, they're the ones who set up the stations.

So you're saying that a company didn't think about the market whatsoever before investing a major part of their future in a tech? That's a pretty huge assumption, and one that I guarantee is 100% wrong. Just because they may have turned out wrong doesn't mean they didn't think about the ramifications. |
OR I COULD BE 100% RIGHT!
i can't say you speak for all gamers here. this may not and seems not to be the time for the 3DS.
im sure the fall season will prove to be there fire for the candle there hoping to light but for now i can't say they planned well for the 3DS.
i still think this is a bad time for hardware, so we'll have to agree to disagree.
I think after the major update coming within the next 2 weeks and the upcoming game schedule - the 3DS will begin to take off and sell. Most people are waiting for the big games to release. You will see 3DS sales pick up right after the release of Zelda.
I think the only reason the 3DS isn't selling is lack of product marketing. Half the people I know didn't evenknow it existed. Infact I don't think a single casual gamer I know knew about it prior to me telling them.
Infact some saw the 3DS commercial and thought it was the DS. The few commercials that are on TV are horrible. No product placement no magazine ads very little marketing of any kind. Reggie initially said Nintendo was trying to build up supply before building up demand. Saying their was no point in marketing a console consumers can't buy.
But if Iwata really did say this then maybe Nintendo needs to rethink this strategy. They need to differentiate the 3DS from the DS. Nintendo also needs to increase product awareness!
